Bumper slats

Bumper slats
I'm getting ready to remove my front bumper cover (2013 CS) to be re-finished and install some Rennline grills. My question is about the slats in the side openings, can they be removed easily with the bumper off?

It is removable but it's the whole "retaining plate".

Check out page 2255, section WM 660419, of the repair manual I've stored at this DropBox link:

It is chock full of photos and describes how to remove these parts. It'll help you understand what this would require.

Sorry for being off topic somewhat but what about the 991.2 slats (aka louvers), are they removeable? I stated a thread asking the question but no one knew for sure and I was hoping someone had a parts diagram to help me, and some others.

Bob,
I swear I saw a thread on here where someone removed them but kept the connection live in order to not throw a CEL. Will see if I can find it.

I looked for the thread again where I thought someone removed or loosened them but I give up! The best way to tell is via a parts manual but as I said elsewhere the nearest dealer is well over an hour away.

I called Suncoast and spoke with their parts rep and was able to have him email me part/s layout from the Porsche manual. Have you tried reaching out to the parts department at your nearest dealer?

I got the parts diagrams from Peter and they did not show any fasteners, and said they just snap in so I tried to take them out but but they were not budging. With the help of my wife and a little mirror I found that they are held in with torx screws on each side! I loosened the inner one and put the Zunsport grill back, which I hoped would allow it to sit further back thus eliminating or reducing the gap; however, it was way too loose to leave the way; the slat was actually stabilzing the slat. The other side's torx screw appeared to hold in more than just slow so I put it back in and for now I will live with it.

The individual slats pop right off. Just bend them slightly in the middle and pull. Most of mine were destroyed by a c-clamp that fell of a truck in front of me, and I popped off the only one left intact.
