991.2 side/rear windows - UV/IR protection?
When we get our new Porsche 911's, what are the characteristics of the stock windows in terms of UV or IR protection? I'm trying to understand if I should film the side and rear windows to add protection or not. Note, that I'm not really all that interested in the privacy aspect of tinting so if I were to do a tint, it would be as little as possible and still get the protection for the interior.
Thanks, Brad

The OE side windows offer very little, if any.
I don't like stuff on the glass, so I just use a windshield shade, and try to orientate the parked car for maximum benefit.
It's a cabriolet, so I like the sun.

In AZ, the tint helps with heat reduction, even for the windshield. No sun shade is needed anymore.
I am looking at the Prestige CeraLuxe : https://www.extremeautowerks.net/pre...uantum-ceramic
It's not the cheap brown tint. I'm getting the 35% on the sides and back, clear on the sun roof & windshield.

Here is what you want, and you get it so that it is barely visible if that is the look you are after: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-...2716668&rt=rud

I used 3M tint all around.
70% on the windshield and 15% everywhere else. It cost a pretty penny but it's one of best mods I've done.
I sat in another 911 with dark cheapo tint and the sun was obliterating my face still and the cabin was getting toasty off pure sunlight. 60 degrees outside.
I didnt notice the excellent and true UV protection I had until I sat in the cheap tint car.

Anyone have any experience with the Suntek products? Where I'm getting the PPF done later this week, they only seem to carry the Suntek tints. I note that Suntek has two series of tints to consider, the ceramic and the carbon.

I got the Suntek ceramic in July. Got the 70% on all windows. Did not want the dark youngin/hood look of dark tinted windows. Got it for heat blocking and UV blocking for my full leather interior. Keeps a lot of heat out and also does reduce glare. This is my 2nd 911 I've done this way. If there is a next one, id do it again.
I'm lovin it.
BTW, in 2021 DOT will require heat blocking in all window glass on 2021 and beyond model years for slightly improved fuel economy and emissions.

Just a reminder of the physics of glass. Ordinary glass blocks all UVB, and about 25% of UVA. Laminated glass blocks almost all UVA. Glass transmits near IR pretty much like visible light, and blocks nearly all thermal IR (that's why greenhouses work).
Almost all claims by tint makers and sellers are at least a bit deceptive. Buyer beware.

I ended up going with Llumar Formula One Ceramic (my installer/detailed is a LLumar dealer) tint: 70% on the windshield and sunroof and 35% on the rest. Ceramic tint is one of the best investments given its ability to reject heat and UV.
I had the 3M Crystalline on my Z06 and was equally as happy.

I have Crystalline installed on all windows, including the windshield and it makes a great deal of difference keeping the interior cooler and protects the interior from the harsh sunlight and UV rays. I selected CR70 for the windshield, CR50 for the side windows and CR40 for the read glass. I was surprised and happy the tint was not too dark.
