Objectively speaking: 991.2 or 991.1 for a $90k purchase?

I appreciate the reply. The reason I haven't driven both is that it is nearly impossible to find 2 of these cars nearby with the correct options. I don't live in a densely populated area: the nearest Porsche dealer is 190 miles away, and the nearest place that would even stock a car like this is...190 miles away. The 2 feet of snow we have on the ground also doesn't encourage many dealers to bring in cars this time of year. Yes, I know I "should" drive both, but not everyone is lucky enough to live in SoCal, Miami, or another hotbed for sportscars. I have owned P-cars before, but this will have to be a "faith" purchase.
At least I am not asking about color. That decision is made: Mexico Blue!

At $90k he's looking at preowned only, which makes it hard to find either color. But I agree with you, I personally think voodoo blue looks even better than Mexico blue.

At ~$90K, I'd be looking for a correctly optioned, CPO, 2017 991.2 S...
From my perspective, the huge flat torque, and perhaps more importantly the additional power that can be unleashed with the powerkit turbos and/or a tune put the .2's in a different league than the .1s. Easily 996/997 Turbo levels of acceleration. Sure, a NA motor has its appeal, and if it is a high-revving GT motor, even more so, but a non-GT3 991.1, IMHO easy decision at that price point. .2

It was sarcasm...I would prefer to buy a car before 2021 rolls around. I love blusey cars though.

Speaking og Blue, which is my favorite color by the way, there are actually several very nice hues, such as this one, Tahoe Blue:

Thanks! I dearly love the Sapphire Blue one! The only one that I had built (the others were bought used/CPO). She's a keeper - I hope to have this one for a very long time.
The black w/powerkit and aerokit cup was a fantastic car. Sadly, I was hit by a 17 year old girl in a large Kia last year (her fault) and the car was totaled.
The basalt black 2012.5 991S in the first photo was also a great car. Had a lot of fun with that one - my first 911! Traded it in on the black w/powerkit/areokit cup in 2016.

Objectively speaking, it’s different for everyone. You need to decide what’s most important to you , knowing the relative strengths of the .1 and .2.
I bought a base .2 even though the .1 sounds better, because the steering and manual box are much better on the .2. The .2 sounds good too, just not as bubbly as the .1, but the overall package to me rounds up to an improvement over the .1. I naturally preferred the visuals of the .2 with the wheels pushed out, lower suspension and tweaked lights.
if you can’t stand the idea of a boosted regular 911, then it’s easy, get the .1. If all the other things are important take a test drive of the .2. Enjoy the shopping experience!

Tahoe is very nice. And I agree there are some terrific blues. Voodoo is great but a Toyota color. Mexico is nice but too close to Miami to justify PTS price. My faves are Oslo, Riviera, Aqua Blue Metallic and Albert. But the best is Arrow!

Objectively speaking, with the drop in the real estate and stock markets going on, you can probably find a 991.2 C2S for near $90k, going forward, if you hunt nationally. That what id do...

My feeling is to buy the newest and lowest mileage example you can find. Of course there is a lot of diccussion around the 991.1 vs. the .2 but honestly they are both fabulous cars. Good luck with the search, it’s half of the fun.

And if this bear market in oil persists, you can expect extreme economic duress in the oil patches. I remember the last one. There were waves of layoffs, and a bunch of almost new Porsches were forced onto the market at very low prices in Texas. That's coming again and not just in Texas, if oil doesn't get a miraculous recovery in pricing soon. If these low oil prices persist, there are going to be some real bargains for those willing to hunt and buy there.
