Default Aftermarket Stereo Headunit?

Has anyone installed one in their 991? Now that Waze is a go with Apple CarPlay I would love to install a Pioneer NEX setup like I’ve done in a few of my other cars.

Is is this my only option? https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PK9X1BOSE.html

Any input is greatly appreciated.

If you have Bose, that's the best option I've seen. You can subtract the MOST fiber optic bus adapter if you change the amp. If you want to keep the Bose amp, then you need that expensive MOST adapter.

I've always upgraded from the stock head units in previous vehicles, and I'm coming from a GMC with a Pioneer 4200NEX with Carplay and all the goodies. I'm finding I like the PCM 3.1 in my 2015 fine, and I'm honestly thinking about not changing it for once... this may be because I stream most of my music, so a working bluetooth connection & a decent phone mount gets me 95% of where I want to go. I'm not sure losing some of the other functions you get with the PCM is worth getting in-dash Carplay. I seemed to only use Carplay for maps anyway... Waze or Google.

There is an aftermarket add on for the PCM that adds carplay, android auto and a backup camera.

Default level of effort

Has anyone installed the android option on 3.12 and if so how much effort/cost was involved. Also interested in how this works with adding a backup camera.

Not yet, it's not finalized. I'm on the list to grab the Android version the moment they release it. Should be by the end of the year at the latest.

It looks like about 6-8 hours of labour, so I'm hoping to do this over the winter while my car is hibernating.

Here's a thread with a 991 with a Pioneer setup...

And there are more. Search that forum for "pioneer" or "991" and you'll get a deluge.
