Looking at a couple of 2014's at Carmax and noticed they have plates on the front. Would that bother you and possibly prevent you from purchasing? I have seen that you can take it off and put in little color correct plugs, but still not the true stock look.
Not sure it would stop me or not, but wonder what others think. Perhaps hurt resale down the line to Porsche purists?

Bother? Yes.
Stop me? No.

It's Carmax's way of advertising, I'm sure.

Stop me, YES. If they drilled into the bumper I am out. If it was a car where the bracket can be removed without any holes being seen they I would be good.

I agree with LexVan - Eric at Bumperplugs started making them for a reason, and with them installed they almost look like they belong there, as if they are some kind of sensor. I live in FL though and we don't have front plates but if the right car came up and the only thing wrong was that it had plate holes in the front bumper it would not deter me from buying it.

If you love the car then buy it and either use bumper plugs or for a price, have the bumper repaired and repainted. It is hard to imagine that Carmax would go through the trouble and expense of acquiring a Porsche front license plate bracket and drilling it into the bumper just so they could put their name on the front. The car probably had a front license plate from its prior owner.

I bought my 911 there 2 years ago and the Carmax plate was on the tow hook mounted front license plate bracket. My guess is they only put thier plate on cars that already had a front license plate.

^^^^^ beat me to it.
I bet the carmax cars already had a plate holder installed when they acquired the car.
I don't see them putting forth that much effort to install front plate mounts if the car didn't come with one.

Bought my car at Carmax too and they installed the front plate. What made it bad was the skippy doing the work also drilled the bottom two holes and attached with 4 screws. Easy to take it to a body shop and have repaired for $500 - $600.

Yes, it would bother me.
I tell everyone the same thing: If the car has been drilled for a front plate I'm out.

If it were a last resort I would, but I'm patient and it's not like I've been shopping for limited run cars, so I have lots of choices. All other things being equal I'll take the car without the drilled bumper.

It means that in no front tag states the car came from some other state which may or may not be desirable. There are more than a few states I would not want a pre-owned car from.
