I left St. Louis on Friday in the 911 for a week long road trip, and aside from the "fly and drive" late August down to Dallas to purchase it, this is my first road trip. Gotta say buying new tires has really made this car a sweet cruiser on the highway. I bought the new Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS, could not be happier. Anyway, back to the trip.
Headed over to Lawrence Kansas to visit my daughter at University of Kansas, "Rock Chalk". She wanted to go for ride, but that soon turned into a little surprise I had. Pulled over and said "lets switch seats". She was very reluctant but I insisted, explained its just a car with 1 gas pedal and 1 brake pedal.
Love this girl.
Had a great "Dad's Weekend, we are very proud of this girl. Studying Chemical Engineering, she's in her junior year. Before I left town.
After Church on Sunday morning I departed for Branson Missouri, or as I like to point out actually Table Rock Lake. I've got a few things to tend too over the next 3 days down there. Today is a total wash out and tomorrow its supposed to be gorgeous, so I'm planning on heading out and hitting some of the back roads.

Thursday I'll be heading over to PCA-Palooza in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

One bit of advice I have for you - get one of those tire plugging kits from an auto parts store. If you're on a road trip and get a flat that is too severe for the slime+pump to cure, you will thank me.

And keep in mind that Porsche-sized tires are not typically available on short notice anywhere but your Porsche dealer, so having the facility to keep going is worth a lot.
By the way, how do those Bridgestones compare in road noise to the standard summer tires? And what sizes are you running?

I visited KU with my Dad when I was a kid; beautiful campus and setting. Incidentally he graduated from KU in 1940 with a BS in chemical engineering. He went into the USAAF in WWII as a pilot and after went to MIT for MS degree.

Search Bridgestone Potenza in the 911section, you’ll get some good insight there. As I stated, road noise is totally blown out of proportion. I’m super happy with the tires, coming off factory P-Zeros. I purchased the same sizes which come on the car OEM.
