Does your 991.2 vibrate at idle?
Probably going to have lots of questions over the next week or so as I get used to a Base 911. The only question I have right now concerns the feel of the car at idle. With my 981 BGTS the car is dead still at idle. No vibration in the car at all. The 911 is different. I notice vibration. RPMs are solid. Is this normal for a 911?
Two things that might account for some difference between the 981 BGTS and 991.1 911:
1. My BGTS is manual. 911 is PDK.
2. 18-way seats in the BGTS. 14-way seats in the 911. The 18-ways seats, at least at 48K miles, are MUCH more comfortable than the 14-way. Maybe the 14-way seats being much harder means they transmit more feel.
Of course there are loads of inherent differences between two different models of cars (let alone a mid engine versus a rear engine). Just pointing out a couple of major options differences.
So, is it normal for a PDK 911 not to be dead still when stopped or in Park?
Thanks!

I had a 981 Cayman GTS and now have a 991.2 GTS coupe. Both had/have manual transmissions and 4-way sport seats. I must say that I've not noticed any vibration difference between the two. However, my butt dyno is an older outdated model.

Coming from a 2015 manual C2S into this 2017 PDK C2S with X51 PowerKit, neither has any detectable vibration. Both with 14 way seats.

Not only does mine vibrate, but it vibrates the entire house when I start it up in the garage. My wife tells me daily......

Got a better feel for it this afternoon. It is due to RPMs. There is a very small variance at idle. This morning it was right on one of the markers and small enough that it was not moving off the marker. This afternoon it was just above the marker so I could see varying a touch.
Any thoughts on a very small variance in RPM at idle? It’s probably nothing and I’m making too much of it.

I'm on my second 991.2 base. First was a coupe and the second a cabrio. Both with PDK and 14 way seats.
None of them vibrate at idle. Idle always seems to be very stable and I haven't noticed any variations.
For peace of mind maybe you can take it to your local dealer so that they can connect it to the computer and do a fast check ?

Ok, got it. May I call it "hunting"? The apparent hunting for the correct idle speed.
I know some idling issues can be caused by small vacuum leaks. Sounds like a trip to the dealer, good luck.

I have an earlier car (991.1) and a different tranny (manual), so this may not apply.
My 991.1 does vibrate a little at idle - I can actually see the empty passenger seat back vibrate a little.
I put it in sports mode, which bumps idle by 100-150 rpm, boom - no more vibration.
In my case the lower the idle the lumpier it is. See if your car does that too...
Definitely not worried about it...

Possibly a resonance issue? The car has a certain resonant frequency that gets it vibrating when the engine is that frequency. I've not noticed anything like that on my 2017 C4S with 2400 miles. But if I have the windows down with the sport exhaust turned on at at stop light, it resonates through the cabin and I have to roll up the windows. Not the same issue, though.

I want mine to do that! I once had a Viper that did that and I loved it but I don't think I want the Targa to vibrate that much since if it did I am sure the top would not work well for long.
