That sounds pretty cool, have you seen the tinted/darkened factory talights($600ish option)?

This Suncoast web page has a photo of a silver Carrera with and without the tint if you'd like to compare the look... on a silver car at least. Personally, I think the normal ones in my car already look fairly dark.

Thanks for point me toward that pic. $875 seems RICH! pretty certain it could be done with smoked vinyl... If I take on the project, I will post.

$875 for a pair of tailights is pretty decent.. Cheaper if you equipped them on the car configuration.

If you could sell your stock lights for $600 on ebay this will only be a $275 upgrade. Install is easy, looks cleaner and you don't have to deal with cutting vinyl.

Here is a comparison -- look close -- it was a funny day at the dealership when we noticed this. Seems Service "borrowed" some parts for a short time

so, i had some tinted vinyl lying around. then i had an idea of how to make a template. i covered the clear part of the tail light with blue painters tape and drew a fine line around the edge with a sharpie.

i peeled the template of the light and stuck it to a piece of smooth granite. i cut away the excess, free hand, with an exacto knife. i laid the tinted vinyl over the template and taped it tight. cut around the template with the exacto knife and voila, a piece of tinted vinyl the exact size of the clear part of the tail light. i applied the vinyl to the light and now i have a tinted center of my tail light. literally took about 15 minutes. result is 90% of perfect. i have some pics, may post in a bit.

The backup lights on my Endurance Racing Edition look smoked to me, but I don't see any description anywhere or on the window sticker that says that. But the ERE has a number of Weissach Exclusives that are not itemized. Can anybody tell me if these are smoked?

You can't easily tell from that angle since there is a black strip dividing the upper and lower half of the clear area on both versions of the tail light. Because of that when you look down from the kind of angle you show in that photo they look black since you are largely seeing that divider. If you look into the white/clear lens with your eyes even with the light you can tell if the LEDs look tinted or not, especially if you look along the inside edge toward the center of the car. I at first thought mine were tinted too until I did this closer look.

Here's what I mean. Black when viewed from above due to the dividers you see here, but clear when viewing level with the light.

And I meant to add, nicely done SeeForce! I like to see clever initiative like that.

I'll have to check mine tomorrow in daylight, from straight on.
SeeForce: what % tint film did you use?
