sport-tex care
just wondering if there's anything anyone does for upkeep on sport-tex seats. have them in my T, and plan on keeping the car for years (my wife rolling her eyes). Usually am pretty good about leather cleaning and conditioning my cars, but does anyone scotchguard the cloth at all, or do anything so it doesnt get ratty? Also any specific alcantara cleaner that works well for the steering wheel or shifter?

I'm guilty of that. Still have the yellow corner plastic bit still on the screen. Perhaps too much time with my great aunt who managed to use her tv remote still in the plastic. Never understood how she got the batteries in.

My problem, and I have many but my wife has more (lol) is in the summer on sunny days, if I'm going to be hiking or just out and about, I need to put sunscreen on as I'm a whiter shade of pale (Procol Harum) and it then gets on either the leather of my F150 or the sport tex of my T and it's damn hard to get off. Perhaps seat covers are the answer.

I just scotch guarded mine (and the red seatbelts for good measure). Have been lathered up in sunscreen all summer - wipes right off. Also good for making sure your seats don't get smelly from being a gym rat.
It's already saved one mishap (wife spilled her tea on our roadtrip).

Scotchguard won't hurt the leather and will also protect it. Will make it difficult to apply and creams or polishes to the leather. Scotchguard is good stuff.

I used a leather softener I got from Danner Boots. I use it on my dress shoes, my leather chair, gloves ...
Second weekend I applied it worked till it seemed to disappear and then let it sit over the weekend in the garage (i was out of town). When I came back on Sudnay night I wiped it all down with a towel. took it for drive with a t-shirt to make sure none of it came off on my clothes.
This'll help reduce, in a few years, the chance of deep wrinkles and cracking leather. It also darkens the leather a touch since its black cream.
