Configuring a Porsche--at Porsche

Configuring a Porsche--at Porsche
(Moving this over from general discussion forum)Has anyone used either the US or European PEC's or Porsche Stuttgart/Leipzig to configure their order? I know dealers have configuration rooms, paint and leather samples etc., but I am wondering whether a visit to one of the company's own centers was a more useful (and hopefully fun!) experience for folks here.

I have not done this but I have been to PEC-ATL many times. They have an entire room/office dedicated to Porsche Exclusive customizing. I believe you have to make an appointment. They have tons of samples and knowledge. I suspect better than any dealership. I'm not sure if they can actually configure and order a car for you. I doubt it - they are not a dealership.

Can I give a slightly contrarian response? I spent load of time on the configurator, getting in to more and more detail... in the end I went for a straightforward configuration... i wanted as much power with 2wd with wide body... ended up with a GTS... made sure that the aesthetics would be ok... and left the rest to Porsche
Having owned it for a year, i'm personally very happy... when i;m driving it, the small details don't matter to me... as long as i have a steering wheel and a manual gearbox, i don't notice anything else

I had an appointment at PEC Atlanta and sat down with them and configured my car. I had a lot of options on my 2018 C2S and wanted something unique. Showed up there with a couple different codes I had done on my own. Their guy was able to help me tweak it out and I was quite pleased with the process.
I will say the reason I ended up going there was mainly a matter of convenience. PEC Atlanta is about 90 miles form me and the dealer I was ordering from was 130 miles from me. Ultimately I wanted to see the color samples in person vs what I was seeing on the online configurator and the PEC was my closest option. I did not make the appointment there with the intent of needing that much help picking my options but once I got there the added experience of the Porsche specialists proved to be quite useful on selecting options. One quick example Is my car is Saphire blue with the chalk/blue leather interior and I did deviated seat centers in blue. The Porsche guy recommended the burgundy colored seats belts for a little interior color pop. I would have never even considered that idea but once he brought it up and I thought about it I went with it and now I love that added touch.

I worked with exclusive on my build but did it by phone.
If you are ordering a basic spec, it probably does not make much sense and you will get very good feedback from people here if you post your build code.
If you want lots of options, especially interior stuff or even CXX, a trip to exclusive in Atlanta or LA (I think LA is open now, maybe not) is probably worth it. Yana highly recommended me come in to visit, but I did not want to fly down there and could not find time to drive.
