Default Passive Battery Draw

Curious how quickly a battery discharges with various passive draws - PCC, alarm, etc to the point of needing a charge and possible low voltage gremlins when the car is used intermittently? Mine is a weekend fun, occasional road trip car but can occasionally go several weeks without driving. If I throw it on the Porsche Maintainer even with this level of driving, it can take several days to show topped off. 3/31 delivery, 3600 miles, so not a garage queen, just not a daily......

What you state, is normal. It does take several days with a low mileage car. Keep doing it. It's easy. Lock your doors, it helps for a faster charge.

My dealer said the best way to minimize battery drain is to keep the car locked. That kills systems. Macan manual even mentions that unlocked it will shut down and even kill the charger.

I just get in the habit of hooking up the battery tender if I know I won't drive it for more than a day or two. I typically don't lock the doors, so far, this has worked great for me and I'm sure mine has the original battery, so it's 5+ years old now.

And that's why your battery has last so long. Good job. Look to proactively replace next summer.

Yeah, that was kind of my thought process. I'm certain the previous owners never maintained the battery so I'm surprised I haven't had to deal with it yet.

My battery is closing in on 6 years, judging by the date stamped on the negative terminal (40 12).

I've never taken any particular care of it, yet it continues to run strong.

What I do notice is that the alternator is charging it at 14.8, sometimes 14.9 volts. Isn't that rather high?

I've never seen that high a charging voltage on any of my Porsches. I always use my CTEK any time it will sit more than 3 days.
What i have learned is that one battery's history is not usually typical of all. What we do know is that lead acid batteries don't like sitting and /or being discharged for longer periods of time.

if my car is not driven once a week i throw on the Ctek charger. Dont lock the doors of car in the garage. from start of activating CTek it mostly goes from yellow, charging, to green, fully charged and in monitering mode in about 2-3 hours.

Unless I know (for sure) that I will be driving my 991 in the next 24 hours, I plug in the Ctek. This car is not a DD (neither am I anymore).

Mine got up to 15v charging in the winter time and then I received a warning indicator about the start/top not working ............ time for a new battery.
