What temperature is considered to be "warmed up"?
So I religiously follow the following steps every time I get in my 911T:
I turn it on, wait for the RPMs to drop down to standard idle level (takes about 1min) and then drive like a granny (not exceeding 3 - 3.5k RPM) until the water and oil temperatures reach 190 - 200F each. At this point I feel comfortable enabling Sport or Sport+ mode and pushing the car.
Oil always takes longer to get warmed up vs water.
The question is - what temperature is really considered to be warmed up and ready for the full beans?

I ignore the water temp and use oil temp only since that's what really matters as far as engine and turbo lubrication.
I usually wait until oil temp is 150+ and then feel comfortable really getting on the gas.
This car heats up really fast compared to other cars in my experience.

Oil temp at 180.
I'm most always in Sport Plus. I short shift at 4K till oil hits 180. My UOAs show I'm doing it right.

Relative to different oil temps with differing Sport Chrono modes what is considered the optimal operating temp above 180? Is it possible to be running oil too cool if not operating hard enough in Sport modes? Conventional wisdom is to operate hot enough to ensure moisture created as part of combustion process is burned off.

Sounds like I’m being a bit conservative, but that can’t be a bad thing, so I’ll stick to it.
Does the outside ambient temperature factor into this at all? If it’s 20F outside, is “warmed up” is still 170+F?

For me, oil temp must stabilize before RPM exceeds 3.5K. Water temp isn't really a factor in my warm-up routine, just monitored. Lastly, I don't get under way until the ECM decides to close the air box and exhaust valves...

There are numerous posts on this as this question is (seemingly) frequently asked. 180F for oil, water temp is irrelevant. What seems to be controversial however is weather or not you let your car warm up enough to hear the RPM drop before you drive off. I start it, and drive it with out a warm up phase.

Define "optimal". If you mean optimal MPGs....the answer is oil temp of about 228-232.

Modern car are not suppose to idle to warm up as the higher amount of fuel when cold washes out the oil and reduces lubrication. Therefore, recommendation is to start, and drive normal granny driving.
Also, Sport or Sport + does not matter, it is all about RPM. Keep revs low until oil is warm per others. If you have PDK and in auto, maybe wait for Sport+ mode because revs would be too high.
I put mine in Individual mode as soon as I leave the driveway.

I get in, start the car and go while I am pushing the sport button in my 991.2 In my 981, same thing but I push the sport + button and the smart top down button. I like the gurgles.
180 degrees for me before I exceed 4k. After that temp is reached, anything goes.

I wait till 180 before the beans come out due to habbit. What makes me cringe is driving porsches in the winter when it takes like 15-20 min ...or more...to get to 180. I wonder if the oil reports from winter driven cars look terrible.
