Rocks in Cooling Fan
On a really hot Saturday with the temps about 98°, the A/C had a really hard time cooling off the interior after the car had been sitting in the sun for a couple hours.
A few days later, while the car was in for annual service there was a fault code on the passenger cooling fan. After investigating it turned out to be rocks that had lodged in the fan blades and kept it from turning.
The car wasn't running hot (water temp) but the A/C had trouble. Any one else experience this?

Yep, actually fairly common. When it happens to me the fan makes a horrendous sound like nails dragging down a chalk board until the car detects the problem and shuts down the fan. Usually able to just dislodge the rocks but you need to pull out the fender liner to access it.

You'll find quite a few posts about it in both the 997 and the 991 forums. The most typical symptom is one of the fans starts running on full blast all of the time while the other doesn't run at all. The fan controller senses the failure of one fan and compensates by turning the other one on full whammy. You'd think it would trigger a warning on the display, but instead all you get is a loud roar of the one working fan as a clue.
