Reviving an older thread because we are bout to take delivery of a 991.1 S that i found in Texas, loaded with every option known to man, including my favorite Power Kit upgrade. A few notes from reading through...sorry for being late to the party:
1.) The PDK cars have to go in Rolling Dyno Mode - so you need the factory PIWIS computer. There were some folks that came up with some things a few years back that could emulate wheel speeds and that's the expensive equipment to which you're referring. Nowadays most all shops have them because they're cloned and imported from overseas. It allows you to put a PDK car in "Dyno Mode" so as not to freak out the computer when it doesn't see front wheel speeds. It's not expensive though. If you have a PDK 997.2 / 987.2 then in fact you have to go to a 4 wheel dyno and hook up the drums and work backwards into an interpolated rwhp/rwtq number.
2.) I have been studying the file in this car since 2016 because that's the package i put on our GT4 at 950 miles. The GTS is an animal. I think it's grossly underrated and i love the chance to upgrade them to the potential for the purpose built GT car. I will tell you though that of all of the stock ECU files, this one has the least room left on the table. It's fairtly aggressive from the factory and running on the edge of knock and when it's hot, adding 100 octane to the car will wake it up almost another 7 - 10 horsepower. Because of the big intake runners they don't make an enormous amount of peak torque but the curve is the flattest of any non-GT car Porsche builds. That's why you're making good power in the heat when it's 100F outside.
3.) Your dyno results are right on the money. we have built several X51 powered GT4s and have worked on several 991s and added Power Kits. Your 385/282 number is spot on the money. That's why i love the Dynojet.
I would love to revive this thread again. We are starting the build of this yellow car next week. The goal will be to take it to Daytona International Speedway to see if we can set some records.

Added the Techart wing because a 991.2 Carrera rear wing and deck lid is an undertaking. 3 days into dismantling the car a customer of mine with a 981 with a 3.8 swap wanted to add to his stable so we put all mods back on and added the wing for him. He wanted something that already had the upgrades done. I'm very fortunate and happy to see it running as intended as a track car.

Thanks! I like things that aren't too aggressive and ostentatious if you're still on the street. Vorsteiner made a really cool RS style rear decklid for the 991.1 but the 991.2's engine inlets wouldn't permit the carry over. I would have gone with that and i will go with that for the customer for this car. I like the ducktail honestly but this car is going full track duty.
My customer that owns the yellow .2 car was unfortunate enough to take delivery of it and then watch it sit. He's chomping at the bit to get the car to Mid Ohio. I even made the euro bucket seat heaters work. He added Forgelines. I'm extremely anxious to see how the car does there.
The 991.1 GTS has a seriously special motor in it, and it's why I've enjoyed them more than almost all of my GT cars honestly...The new GTS motor isn't nearly as special vs the standard either :/
this is not meant to denigrate new "turbo" cars.. just because a group of people find something special doesn't automatically means everything different from THAT thing is ****.. The folks who love N/A didn't come up with the idea and the folks who get offended when 991.2 engines are discussed in not the most favorable light didn't design or manufacture the 991.2 engines.. these are objects we get to have, toys..
for a few of us, the 991.1 GTS motor (along with all the N/A motors) are super special... some of us who can afford a 100% weekend car, we go for the GT3s.. the rest of us opt for the GTS to be a semi daily driver..
I test drove a 991.2 T, 991.2 Base and 991.2 GTS... almost talked myself into a 991.2 GTS (so glad I backed out).. they can have the superior tq and straight line speed.. I am "old" and slow.. and the N/A music near red line (along with the rush) is ALL I need form my GTS.. I hope I get to keep it for a LONG time

I enjoy both turbo and NA cars. For the track and the sound I go with NA. The flat linear torque is perfect for throttle modulation on corner exit, plus there is no lag like there can be on turbo cars ( yes, I’m aware this has supposedly been almost eliminated in the 991.2). It’s just a personal preference thing for the track.
For daily driving, I love turbo cars. My last 4 dailys have had turbos. Diesel trucks, BMW M4, and now currently a 2019 Ford Raptor. That big boost of instant torque is great for boulevard pounding and on ramp merging. I have little patience for ringing out a NA car on the way to the grocery store anymore. Also, on the street you’re not in the boost all the time like you would be at the track so no heat soak or inconsistency.
My 991.1 is currently on the dyno. I'll post results once I get them. Hopefully at least 1 person is still watching this thread.

just a heads up. If your numbers are bad we will tell you your engine has serious issues. And if they are better than average we will tell you that day is exaggerating lol

haha. Just had an opportunity to make some free pulls and took advantage. My car is basically stock. Cobb Tuning software for engine and PDK, BMC air filters and AWE Switchpath exhaust.
It made 346 peak hp on the Cobb tune. He made some changes and was able to get 352 peak hp. But much better improvement mid range.
Also, my car is a PDK. Which makes a big difference. My test was done on a Mustang dyno.

Looks good, he surely made some good changes and made significant/noticeable gains past 4K rpm. I have the same engine but with Powerkit, otherwise entirely stock and am running cobb 93 octane off the shelf tune. Looks like real time dyne tune is something to look into.
