Washing Bugs off the PFF??

I've tried 50% diluted rubbing alcohol and it and it worked well.
Xpel recommends using acetone or lacquer thinner.

Odd. I always PPFd for two reasons chips and mainly for bugs. The last two miles of my drive home at night are just awful. But I always just left them on and then cleaned later and never had etching. I wonder if maybe because I was using a quick wax it protected it.
my Cayenne endured three years of this and never etched. It did never sit in sun though. Garaged at home and work and maybe that was the trick.
I have since sold that Cayenne and got and older one and the PPF was in rough condition. I corrected it with exactly the same process I use on paint i.e random orbital both compound and then polish. Came out just beautiful! I had not heard that I’m removing some protective layer. That is news to me. Six months later is still looks great.

OP: it would be interesting to know the particular make/model of PPF you have. I have Suntek Ultra. I don't remove bugs particularly quickly but have no problems with etching.
I guess the problem could vary with the type of bug too.

I have X-pel Ultimate on the front. Been removing bugs with these McKee’s bug scrubbers when needed:
They need to soak in car wash soap and water for five minutes before use, which softens them up just enough. So far, 100% bug removal with no damage to PPF.

Mine is Suntek Ultra, too. I just washed the car tonight and the bugs came right off, no problem.

i dont know but I paid a lot through the dealer for it ( I believe 2600 for the front end) and I debated getting it from day one.
Now I regret it. Ive washed most of them off last night and threw a little wax at them to cover now you can hardly notice them.

I don't recall seeing etching on PPF from bugs, but have seen it on clear coat. What brand is the film and how old? Maybe its cheaper 3M crap...
Claybar with lubing soap works fine on my SUV's PPF. It can add fine swirl marks, but they self heal in sun.
I'd avoid the bug and tar sprays as they degrade film in my experience and warnings state to not use on plastic or film typically.

I've never tried it but Xpel says it's okay to clay their PPF.

you can try this stuff - spray on liberally and let it sit for 5 min - then try. Won't affect PPF.
I've had good luck with it.
