Exclamation 991.1 Cant fill fuel tank at all! Need help! - Fixed

Hey,

Guys i literally cant fill my gas tank, it feels like something stuck/blocking inside and does not allow fuel to flow inside the tank.. And when i opened tank there was no air (as usually when i open tank i hear how air goes out).
Anyone had such issues?

Car 991.1 Turbo S

You should not get a “whoosh” of air when you remove your fuel cap. If this was happening, it’s indicitive of the fuel tank not being properly vented or the vent system may be blocked. Then the fuel pump causes a pressure build up inside the fuel tank. As the tank empties (its ABS plastic), pressure can continue to build and the fuel tank can implode or collapse inside itself, which would explain why it won’t take on fuel. This of course is speculation, but I have seen this happen before.

As an experiment, leave the car parked, the fuel door open and remove the gas cap. Just let the car sit for a couple of days without starting it. Sometimes the tank will pop back into shape if the pressure is removed. Sometimes not.

Look inside the fuel tank with a flashlight and see if it looks collapsed.

Did you allow a tuner to do any emission mods to the car? If they move things around sometimes it doesn’t get hooked up correctly and the venting is compromised. Or if the car had body work on the front end, etc.

That just isn't right. Get yourself to a qualified shop for investigation. If you are a DIY guy - rent a fiber-optic camera and have a look in the tank.

Anyway I have booked service at porsche for monday.. lets see what they say about this.

@ drcollie no emissions no body work.
Regarding air, all my past cars did the same sound with air..

p.s i have read that it may be caused by fuse blow..

Sounds like a dealer should deal with that. Never want to mess around with gas related issues! I will be curious what the dealer finds.

Update 1

Porsche told me that this part:

Was not holding in top place, it was on the bottom. They told me that they have no idea how it fall down, me either.
They trying to fit it back, if they fail to fit it back, then i will need to change fuel tank to new one.. labor cost ~$1200, plus new fuel tank ~$2500. Glad i found used for ~$400!
Anyway issue is still not confirmed 100%. So i am waiting for next update.

So beware guys as it can happen to anyone!
