I just purchased a 991.1 S Cab. Cannot wait to take delivery next week.
Had a horrible thought, since the top can be stowed or deployed remotely. My cars are kept on/under a vehicle lift, pictured below. As you can see from the picture, there isn't enough clearance for the operation if it was accidentally triggered.
Searched and searched this site for an answer but couldn't find one.
Any assistance appreciated!

What would happen to the top if operated, and hit an overhead obstruction?
Calm down. You’ve got to be in the car and holding the switch in place while the top operates. You gonna be on the second floor of that lift and accidentally hit the switch?
Well - with children anything could happen. I guess you could lock the car and hide the FOB's.
This would be the first convertible of any kind that's I've owned, maybe there's worry over nothing. Some power window windows retract if they meet resistance, thought this might be the same. Don't have the manual in front of me (yet) to consult.
I am willing to sell you Porsche approved "Do Not Open" Post-It-Notes for $36.50 a package, shipping included. Let me know, and PM me your shipping address. I can get these out tonight. I suggest a bundle of four (4). I can do custom colors for an extra $4.....and PTS for an extra $18 per package.

Nice stable, by the way.
I saw a demonstration where you can operate it remotely from the FOB, main reason for the concern..
Unless you install a SmartTop, you will have to be inside the car holding the switch from beginning to end until the top is completely down. If at any point you take your finger off it, it stops moving. You can't do anything using the fob, so no need for concern.

You're right, of course. Somebody showed me a demonstration from the FOB and represented it as a standard feature. I see now it's a mods4cars product.
I guess the question that should be asked is if there is a safety mechanism of which the soft top stops if it encounters any resistance. Will it crush your kids fingers if they accidentally put them over the window as the top is closing.....will it bend the frame if it encounters a low car lift...... as the soft top is opening? The best I can tell there is no safety mechanism.
OK, OK, OK you've had your fun........I misunderstood how the top worked. Surprised the recommendation of taking the batteries out of the FOB's wasn't offered.........
Now that the car has been here for a few days enthusiasm for owning a drop top is super high. Why did I wait soooo long to purchase a convertible? I thought the 997 sports exhaust sound was intoxicating. Sound with the top down on a 991 is over the moon.
