Found a car but Porsche won't do PPI?

If it's Texas Direct Auto the car should be in good shape. I've personally never purchased from them but I've only heard good things about the dealership. I'll be glad to swing by and lay eyes on the car for you......just PM me the the name of the person you're working with. I might even be able to have a body shop eye it real quick. Got a few connects down the street from them.........Phil

I've been there as it's pretty close by to where I live. Was checking out a 911 before I purchased mine. I really didn't like it there as it felt like a CarMax with thousands of cars on the lot of every brand/model. Just as with CarMax it's really no haggle and you feel like cattle in that high volume type of environment.
I didn't have any issues with the car but if I was to ask the salesman detailed questions, I'm certain they wouldn't know. I just felt that they were there to push out volume sales and that's it.

I'd never do business with a dealer like that. There are tons of cars in the US. Even here in Canada where used 911's are not common, especially with a MT, I'd walk every time if treated that way.

Long distance inspection
Hi Guys,
So I found a car out in Texas (i'm in CA) and would like to get the car checked out thoroughly. I had a local place do a PPI and he found some repaint on a panel. So now , I'm thinking of having them take it to porsche to do another PPI. The only problem is, the porsche dealer just told me they don't do that. So now I'm not sure what to . Any ideas? Also what are your thoughts on buying a car that has a clean car fax but has visible signs of repaint on the rear quarter panel?

Don't get me wrong. They didn't mistreat or look down me or anything like that. It's just that's their policy for higher end cars. I wasn't even interested in a test drive in the first place and didn't ask as I was pretty set on buying another vehicle.

Maybe another PPI from a national supplier: https://lemonsquad.com (no relation; my son used them a couple of months ago and was very satisfied)

If you can find a good independent Porsche service shop nearby, that would be the way to go for a PPI. If it were in Orlando or Chicagoland, i could recommend a good shop. But in Houston i cannot help you.

Unless its. A 40% discount walk. No one wants a wrecked porsche, plus how will it feel at 140 mph (safe) ?

At least on the 997, you can remove the rear speaker and that will give you access to view behind that panel. Not sure if it is the same on the 991, but you could at least see if there are signs of damage.
Paint work could have been a minor scratch that someone wanted fixed, it also could have been an accident. I would tend to say it is more likely to be a scratch or something minor that someone wanted fixed. Eventually most of these cars are going to have paint work. Another thing to keep in mind is almost everyone seems to be ok with a front end respray due to rock chips, but you truly don't know if that was due to rock chips or a minor fender bender. Something to keep in mind.
