Buying 2014 Carrera 4S
Hello guys!!
I am new to this forum (I have been long time reader).
I have finally paid off my home and looking for a new toy. I am not so much into buying a new car with high depreciation in first few years and this is my Toy, no reason to spend toooo much $$.
So I was looking into used car with low miles within the price range and this car came up for sale and wanted to ask rennlist guys what I should look for..
here it is
2014 Carrera 4S
28k miles (out of warranty)
and all options that I want including Ceramic Break and Sport Package so on...
anyway price is high 80K,
I am more worry about not having warranty and risking myself into what would come....
Is there anything that I need to look careful about this car? it has record of 10k & 20k miles service but that's about it..
please give me advise. or should I spend extra 10k and look for cpo carrera S?
thanks!!!!

Assume it is not from a Porsche dealer otherwise they would CPO a 2014 car. In which case, minimally you want to get the car inspected at a reputable garage for any potential problems or signs of abuse. A PPI at a dealer may cost more and may be worth it. If all the service records are there and the PPI is fine, then it should be OK. IMO, a CPO car is probably a better buy. Good luck. And keep in mind that Porsches are expensive to maintain at a dealer so buying one in decent shape is worth it.

At least go to the Porsche configurator and build yourself a new 911 the way you would order it for yourself. Assuming you were able to get an allocation, you'd get the same performance in the base 4 (or go RWD if you are not planning to drive on snow), at least if you can stay away form spurious options.. Full warrantee, trouble free ownership for 4 years, your own brand new Porsche, and may not be that much more .
Why do you feel you need AWD and ceramic brakes?

Not to highjack the thread but I have my car up for sale which is a 2017 C4S that can be purchased through my dealership with a CPO warranty. Check it out in the marketplace if you are interested. It has ceramic brakes, sport package, full leather, and PDCC.

Heh. Yeah, right. Your car is $30K more expensive than the one OP is looking for...
OP - the car you're looking at is probably too expensive. I bought my 2014 C4S with 17K miles with a CPO for low 80s a few months ago. It doesn't have a ton of options, but I don't think PCCBs are worth $6-8K on a 4 year old car. Does it have full leather? Sport exhaust? Sport seats plus?
I'd only spend that much for it if it was the perfect combo for me. Is it EXACTLY what you want?

Not sure where you are but Porsche of West Houston has a CPO 2014 C4S with around 9,000 miles in the high 80's- silver/black. If you need someone to take a look let me know

OP, if you can swing it, buy ENCT's car - it's a real beauty!

Check out the "Hot for Sale" (HFS) thread up top.
No way you should be spending high 80k with no warranty.. Especially with ceramic brakes which are very expensive to replace/repair.
CPO warranty only if buying through Porsche. If Porsche is selling a 991 with no CPO something funny is up.
Best bet if not buying through Porsche is Carmax. Carmax will have the best/lowest price almost guaranteed and their extended warranty is cheap. All their warranty work is done through Porsche only anyway. Well worth it to save 10K+.
I purchased a '13 C4S which was loaded with options (18K miles) back in November/December through Carmax. Price was 72k(MSRP over 130K). Tacked on a 5 year 120k mile warranty for 3K. Plus taxes it came out to 84K roughly. The car was in mint condition minus front license plate holes in the bumper. Car was owned by a doctor in Florida... Go figure.
EDIT: The car also had an existing CPO for 13 more months from the previous owner. Win win!

Thanks for all opinion and offering help too
I end up getting that car today.. so the story is...
it is White with black interior w/26k miles
- Ceramic Brake
- Sport Seat Plus w/ too many ways adjustable
- Chrono
- Sport package
- Full leather with alcantara headliner
- PDK
- Sunroof
-SPASM
and so on..with few other options that I didnt care for but it actually had exact option as I wanted..
anyway.. I paid for 88k, and these guys tried to sell me extended warranty for 5.5k which I though could worth it but well... I did some research
and found out that this car is CPO until 2020. so I was happy to pull the trigger and I feel like here in Seattle, WA car seems to be bit more expensive than most other states.
NOW I have to take my car in for service to fix few minor stuffs
- squicky arm rest
- some how this strange whistle noise is coming from front of the car.. randomly on and off.. and it more sounds like A/C noise but it is still there even I turn off A/C..
- Minor peel on sport steering.. I was surprised that this silver is actually painted plastic... could have used damn aluminum...
anyway... I am happy so far.. I like the way N/A drives.. my wife has 2017 S6 with stage 1.. and this 911 is not as quick as S6 but I like how they gradually build up the power unlike S6..
THANKS!!! see you guys more in here!!!
