991.2 4S vs 991.2 4GTS, 5k more, worth it?
I will custom order a 991.2 4S, it turns out similar spec 4GTS is only 5k more(minus the Rear Axle Steering). do you guys think it is worth it? I will only do pleasure/canyon driving and no tracks, but I have read GTS will have better resale value.
Thanks for the recommendation!

You feel the turbo character more as you move from base to GTS. Base feels the most natural, GTSs are a bit faster, S is a happy medium between speed and that extra touch of lag from the bigger GTS turbos. Unlike the .1 where the GTS was a clear winner the .2 cars have slightly different good/bad trade offs.
Rear axle steering is a game changer. Id take a any RAS car over a GTS without it, all else equal.

For sure on RAS esp. if tracking the car.

Only if you like the standard features in the GTS such as the sport exhaust, alcantara, centerlock wheels, sport PASM, a more aggressive front fascia (that scrapes) and black accent bits. And the extra power that may or may not be noticeable. RAS is an option for both models. You can delete some of these features such as centerlock wheels, sport PASM, alcantara etc. than what would be the point? Remember, the more stuff you add like RAS, PDCC etc. the more stuff that can break. Centerlock wheels are a pain.
Nothing is a must on these cars. The best value and a fun car for the street is the base Carrera or C4.

I was really underwhelmed when I test drove an S, but fell in love with the GTS immediately when I test drove one. Despite how close they appear on paper, they are different cars. For $5k extra I wouldn't think twice, you absolutely have to get the GTS.
Also, RAS is a must. Don't order a car without it, especially if you're going to do canyon road driving. You'll notice the benefits from the RAS immediately.

Yes. 4GTS RAS > 4GTS > 4 RAS > 4. The GTS is worth it it in pride of ownership, significantly increased power, appearance, “cool” factor, maybe/maybe not resale. RAS - like most Porsche options - will be unlikely to help at resale in any model. Options are for first-owner enjoyment, not for resale value. Best “used car” value performance is always the cars that are lightest on the options.

I don't particularly care for RAS especially on a car that is not tracked but if you can get a 4 GTS for 5k more than your 4S build I would do it. Like others have said there will likely be better resale value and the GTS is also more powerful than the S models. If at the time I ordered there was an option to click GTS I would have done it.

if resale value is a big point then i would think GTS. GTS resells better. fact.
if resale is not as important, you can possibly get just 4S and chip it later for bigger gains than a GTS.
like some has said above, RAS is good but not that important if you are not going to track/hard-drive
FYI, I have .2 4 GTS with RAS and I love.

some people buy porsches to wash and look at, go to starbucks, and show off to friends - in that case, skip the rear steer
but if you plan to drive a 991 like it is meant to be driven, built to be driven, even on brisk road drives... i will just gently repeat... rear steer is a must ... thank me later

I think RAS is nice and makes the car a lot more nimble (I have it). However, based upon your driving needs, the significant increase in power (that will stick really well with the 4GTS AWD), and the prestige and value retention on the GTS... if I had that choice I would go for the 4GTS unless there is some other must-have options at play not being considered here. If you haven't gotten good seat time in a RAS car I don't think you will miss it.
You will make up the $5k later when it comes to resale or trade time.
