Default buying, wheel swap at dealer?

Looking at getting a .2 , salesperson said they could swap out wheels with other cars if I want a different set. Is this pretty seamless? Or does any work need to be done after a swap such as a balance or alignment? Tks

In my experience, dealers aren't willing to swap. They will however be more than happy to sell you a full set for a few thousand...

Take the base set like I did.

Then buy some high quality HRE's in the form factor that you like.

I assume you must be talking about a preowned to have gotten that offer... since that is the only place I've heard of it being done. In either case it should just be a simple swap, but I'd be sure to visually inspect and do a fresh test drive before accepting it just in case there was something amiss with the new tires you happened to get.

Once bought a brand new C4S and they swapped my wheels for a set of another brand new C4S, at my request. Didn't charge me labor either, but that's when I was a good customer. No need to worry in my opinion. Get the wheels you want

Less likely on a new car, but every thing is negotiable really.

Happens more on pre-owned.

Two dealerships said they would do it if they had them and it was the same dimensions. With the first the car is pre owned, at the second I was looking at both a new and a pre owned (executive demo) and it was never specified that it could only be done on one and not the other.

I'd be wary of a dealer that was willing to do a swap on a new car. For example, on any lease, these cars need to be equipped exactly as they were built when it goes back to Porsche. Also can't CPO the car if not equipped as built.

I am not sure that is exactly correct. My old 2011 4S that I traded in was CPO’d with modified exhaust ( Fabspeed cross-pipe) and also a different (Porsche) steering wheel. So not as built.

I traded a Cayman in that didn't have the build sheet wheels that was CPOed by the dealer and sold. I also own a 991 that is a CPO car that has different wheels than the build sheet. Might just depend on t dealer.

Yes it does depend largely on the dealer. But I can tell you for sure that Porsche has gotten much fussier about lease returns and CPO's in the last couple of years. Particularly with wheels not being the same as the original equipment. All I'm saying is be wary - be sure your dealer is cool about this possible issue down the road.
