Default 9a1 improved waterpump ?

Hello all i have a 987.2 boxster with a 2.9 9a1 engine. I am posting on here to see if any of you know if when the 9a1 waterpump goes bad does the impellars have a chance of getting lodged in the engine like the old m96 m97 design? My waterpump is seeping from an inspection but it doesn't make any noice or leak on the ground yet. Im ok with driving it this way till the waterpump totally gives out if the new waterpump design avoids the impellar breaking in the engine. I post this here because you guys all have 9a1 engines

Replace your water pump. Don't wait for it to fail. It won't fail at a convenient /safe time & place. Only use an OE Porsche pump in a Porsche box.

Thank you for the concern but my question about the plastic impellars being lodged into the engine creating localized hotspots with the new waterpump design still stands. From the pics ive seen of the new impellar it looks like they tried to get rid of that problem but im not 100 percent sure

Hello, I think I responded to your post in the 987 981 section. Yes the impeller is a new design where the blades are captured like a squirrel cage fan. I believe they redesigned it with that issue in mind.
