Default warranty on dealer work ?

So it looks like my heater is down again.... Last time was ....wait for it... to no-one's surprise, a Change over valve, which must have seized again ! I know it's trivial versus a real engine issue but no heat makes the car no fun at 5AM when I go to work, not to mention defogging is non existent.

I know dealer work generally has a 2yr warranty, wondering if that applies even if the original work was partially comped as courtesy work ? (a week off warranty at the time!)
I'm OK paying for stuff but paying for repeat work for more defective hardware would be irritating... That and the "2 weeks away" first available appointment ! Those COVs are really bad - better the heater one than the engine coolant one I suppose, but still, how long has it been and how many iterations ?
