Seriously! What's the point.

The standard mirror is $115 at Suncoast
Reminds me of when my stereo in my 350z snapped 2 mirror stalks. Auto-dimming, homelink mirrors weren't cheap a decade ago.

The new mirror might be a total placebo effect. I might just need to sit in a new 911 before I order the part.
I'm 6' tall and the "old" mirror's rounded bottom corners cut out my view of my HEADRESTS. For me, it doesn't cut off any rear visibility. If I had more mirror on those bottom edges (like the new mirror does), all it would help me see is myself in the bottom left corner and the passenger seat headrest in the bottom right corner. I think that's why it was designed with the rounded corners.

Got it. Thanks. I’m 6’4”, so I’ve never noticed an issue with the 991.1 mirror. Don’t get me wrong - I have no issue with mods to suit your needs. I was just curious.

If any one does this swap and ends up with a manual (non-auto-dimming) mirror let me know. I want to swap-out the auto-dimming mirror in my TT for a manual mirror. (I'm going to assume I can stuff the harness pigtail into the headliner or something...)

Why not just switch off auto-dimming?

Browsing this website is considerably cost prohibitive

Then there is no dimming. The point is to be able to dim the mirror when *I* want to.

I've got the new mirror in my .2 and had the previous one in my .1 plus in my current cayenne. Seriously I don't think it's worth the upgrade, the new one just looks like any old mirror in countless cars over the years. At least the old one is distinctive.

If you want a true edgeless mirror, check the one in the new Volvo's. IMO the $395 is much better spent elsewhere, but if it makes you happy, go for it!

Couldn't you press the button again to turn auto-dimming back on just the same as pressing the switch on a manual mirror? Haha

No. You can’t. There is no way to force the auto-dimming mirror to dim when you want it to dim: like during the day when some a$$hole in a SUV is behind you with their high beams on.

Sometimes I feel irrational, but when I come on car forums and hear of people frustrated over similar (albeit totally different in this instance) bull**** that I worry about, it makes me feel a little more sane. Thank you.
