Swap sport seats for sport plus?
I just brought home an awesome 2014 4S that I'm having a slight case of buyer's remorse with. It's pretty minor but there are two items I wish it had: PSE and Sport Seats Plus.
PSE I know I can add.
The car currently has 14-way standard sport seats with heating and cooling. How feasible is it to swap these with similar spec'd sport seats plus? Are they just plug and play? Do 14-way Plus seats even exist or do I need to get the full-on adaptive sport seat plus model?
Thanks in advance,
- Mike

There is the 4-way sport seat, 4-way sport seat plus, 14-way sport seat, and 18-way adaptive sport seat plus. Personally I find the 14-ways to be the most comfortable.
I believe if you have 14-ways then the switch to the 18-ways is plug and play but I'm sure others here can confirm.
Are you wanting to change for the look or because you have tried them and know they are more comfortable for you?

OK. Not much action here. I guess illini's right...
Does anyone know where one could get there hands on some good condition, heated/ventilated sport plus seats? Or a strategy for find some? I've checked ebay, this site, and even some salvage yard sites.
Any thoughts?

Yes, it's swappable. Plug-and-play.
But your biggest problem is actually finding a pair of 18-way sport seat plus as Porsche does not sell these as-is.
You can purchase all the parts separately, and then find and pay someone to assemble them for you. Both of them.
GLWT.

Seats are so costly it’s actuallly better to sell the car and get another equipped with what you want.

I see seats all over the internet - used, but maybe in good shape? The problem is that none are for a 991. They're for 997s and 993s and such. They're usually in the $2000-4000 range. I don't need brand new seats - the seats in my car are 4 years old. I'm looking for good condition used seats. Someone who took them out in favor of racing seats or some other upgrade?

From my personal experience it's quite hard to source 991 seats that aren't the light weight bucket seats in the GT3/GT3RS/Spyder/GT4...sourcing a pair of the 4 ways or 18 ways Sport Seat Plus will be hard. Best bet is to find a wrecked 991 or a part out type of deal on eBay is my guess.
In my own opinion I have the 14 way seats in my C4 and they are not the most comfortable, my lower back starts to hurt after 1 hour in them. Love the 4 way sport seats plus as my personal favorite in the lineup for comfort, they fit me perfectly at 6 feet 175 lbs. YMMV

If the seats are the ONLY major dislike - Maybe look at aftermarket for way less money. If there are other things, just bite the bullet now and trade in the car. Exhaust is an easy fix.

If they were easy to find I'd try it, especially since they're otherwise plug and play. But if they're unfindable, then I'm fine the way I am!

Can't speak to compatibility in terms of plug and play, but...
So long as 981 and 991.1 are compatible (and I suspect they are), I'd be looking for a 981 GT4 or 991.1 GT3 owner who has removed the 4WSS+ that crowd doesn't love to install LWBS or aftermarket race seats. Assuming, of course, your interior is black or you are willing to have the seat faces reupholstered.
Seats are super personal, but the 4WSS+ is, to me, one of Porsche's top ten seats of all time in terms of both comfort and sporting support.

I've got the 18-way hardbacks in my car and find them pretty uncomfortable. I'm not a big guy but the thigh/seat area is too narrow no matter how wide you set the bolsters, and on long rides they really aren't good. The hardback manual sport seats from the 997, on the other hand, are absolutely magnificent. To me, the finest seats ever put in a 911. They're so good I put a pair in my 993. My theory is that the AC system in the cushions of the 991 seat affects the type of padding that's used. OP I would get a little seat time in the 18-way's. A couple of friends have also found them sub-optimal.

Interesting - my 997 had those manual sport seats. Loved them. Just the right amount of "hug."
I've sat in the 18-way seats in a dealership showroom, but I haven't been able to really get any drive time in them - not sure how I would go about doing that anyway, but so far the 14-way comfort/sport seats I have now are ventilated and are admittedly pretty comfortable.
Churchill - what color is your interior? Interested in swapping?

All I know is the 981/991 4WSS+ seat is really good—"the right amount of hug" is a good way of putting it, and they are comfortable on long trips and easy on the ingress/egress. However, I can confirm that the ventilated seat option makes them a bit harder and less comfortable...and I get the sense that I am sitting "on" the seat rather than "in" the seat, losing maybe 10%~ in terms of bolster support as a result. Of course, this is comparing leather seat centers to the GT4's Alcantara centers, which may have been softer. But, in hindsight, I'd have skipped the ventilated seats.
