I think that for iPhones 8 and X the USB Accessories option is under Face ID. For iPhones 7 and lower it's under Touch ID.... good catch.

Thank you for your replies. I can confirm that for iPhone8 with today's update in iOS12, the USB accessories are with Touch ID and passcode.

Does anyone leave the phone connected to the car overnight? Does it overheat?
