Hi all. I've tracked all my 911's and the 991 was going to be no different. Last March I bought a new set of Pagid yellow's and a 19" wheel/tire setup for my '14 Carrera S from Tirerack in preparation to hit the track season running. The car is amazing on track (with PDK) and was almost 2 seconds quicker around my track than my pretty seriously set up old 997 S, and that was just on my first day out with it. One day is all I got to run the car though as I stumbled across a Radical SR3 shortly thereafter which I was quick to acquire. Thus the 991 was retired from track duty after only four 20 minute track sessions.

This is all a long winded way of saying if anyone is tracking, or planning on tracking, their 991 this season and needs a wheel/tire setup or brake pads I have a barely used set of both for sale in the classifieds. Almost $1,400 off the price of everything new. I just thought I would cross post here where the bulk of 991 folks might be looking. I know I would have loved to have saved the money last year.

Buying a REAL race car is truly the best way to go. Well Done! More smiles per mile - less operating costs. Falls into "Get the right tool for the job" category. I'm envious!

How do the lap times compare to the 911?

I'm still making the math fuzzy to myself on the Radical but reduced costs I'd say haven't come into play yet LOL. I need a shop to house/maintain the car all season and deliver to events coupled with breaking the gearbox at the end of the season. Oh and I need two sets of new slicks this year. So reduced costs, heck no. More smiles per mile? YYYYYEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!

Lap times on old slicks last year were 9 seconds faster/lap than 991. I'm guessing easily 11+ seconds quicker on new slicks this year and more seat time. The car is silly quick in all aspects and, without bragging in the least, nothing has passed me since my second time in the seat. It's cheating.

I see it says the construction of those rims is low pressure cast. Are those safe for tracking? You've obviously tracked them and have not had a problem. I've been considering a separate set but I wasn't sure if they had to be forged or cast. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Me too. I sold my 2016 Shelby GT350 on Saturday and there might be a Boss 302S in my future.

I meant reduced costs when you ball it up into the Armco - tube frame cars cost WAY less to fix than unibodies - or money-shift the engine - or play rub-a-racer with the other kids at the track. That sort of thing. have fun!

Gotcha. I want a full bodied car for safety reasons and I'm not going racing. My thought on that direction is wadding up or blowing the motor in a dedicated track/race car is less painful than trashing your beautiful street car. Ask me how I know.

Yes, no issues on low pressure cast wheels for years of tracking on all my other cars. I've never found the need for 'forged' wheels at all.

AWay, much - much smarter to do it your way getting a real track car than screwing up a street car like this guy did in this thread. I bet that Radical is a blast to drive.

I have never understood why people basically strip out otherwise perfect street cars of all sorts and try to turn them into race cars. I have been tracking my 911's for years and the entire allure of them was that they were so complete as a road car and then with a minimal investment of brake pad and wheel swap (I could do both in 45 mins) the car was very competent, fast, and reliable on track. Take the parts off and boom, perfect road car again. One stop shopping that covered both bases very well. If you're trying to turn a perfectly good street car into a full out race car, just buy a race car in the first place. To each their own of course but this is just my experience.

The Radical is silly fun. Silly. You're down in VA, you've got the best Radical dealer right in your backyard! I would bop into WISKO and have a look and chat. You'll leave with a car or at the very least a voice in your head that won't go away until you do. ;)

Reduced the price $200 more to get these moving and fund another set of slicks for the Radical ;)
