Don't have a picture, but mine was a 2.7 981 Cayman, Macadamia/Beige PDK. I had a 991.1 GTS at the time. Pretty big letdown.

The good part was I was teaching a kid I'm mentoring to drive -- he'd just turned 15. He was mighty stoked about getting to do it in the Cayman rather than his mom's Jeep Patriot.

That's been a couple years ago -- my 991 and my GT4 have both been spectacularly trouble free to the point I've not had another loaner. The time I did have a loaner it was a buzzing sound from Bose door speakers, nothing actually broken.

So anyone can drive the loaner, even if it's not legal to drive a regular car?

My loaner always comes with a rental agreement, so i always assumed only the named driver was authorized.

Not sure I'm following you. This kid was legal to drive with an adult in the car.

How good is your insurance?

I would say that would be the stupidest thing to do.

Best loaner ever. Pre 911 days, the Cayenne Diesel was in for some minor service on a Friday afternoon in late May. They needed some part and the Cayenne wouldn't be ready for about a week. I wasn't upset- Boxster S for the weekend and then some. So fun, and my wife was really annoyed at the service people who loaned me that car.

Not all states allow it at this age.

Every time we came to a state or country that didn't allow 15 year-olds to drive I was careful to turn back. You can all stop worrying. I was also extra cautious to make sure the Pirellis never saw anything below 40F, the rev-counter stayed well below 5000, the oil was changed every 3000 miles, and none of that soul-damning rock-and-roll ever profaned the speakers of that Cayman loaner.

Last summer I had my 991 in for some dashboard rattles, and they were getting a new delivery of loaner cars the same day. I asked if this beautiful Sapphire Blue Panamera was going to be in their service fleet, and they said it would be once the alternate transportation coordinator had checked it in. I waited 2 hours at the dealer and worked remotely on my laptop while she checked in the car. It is incredible driving a $100k rental car with 56 miles... for $0. My girlfriend and I had a blast exploring the mountains to the beaches of San Diego in this awesome car!
