Sport Design steering wheel on backorder?
Hey everyone,
My dealer has been trying to get me a sport design steering wheel for my 991.1 C2 for over a month now they say. The reason for this post is Suncoast seems to have the part in stock, so I'm not sure what's taking so long to get the part from Stuttgart. Seems strange for something like this to take so long, no? I'm unfamiliar with this process as this is my first P-car and my first experience adding an option after purchase (car was bought CPO).
Thanks!

1 week
Mine took 1 week including shipping. Just order from sunset or one of the other online guys. No worries about fakes it would be to hard to reproduce. Any shop can install but getting the wire to tuck in right behind the airbag is a little tricky. You'l know you did it wrong if horn sticks.

Bad news. Dealership tells me now that the order is on block. None in Germany and none in the US. Sounds like I’m at the mercy of Porsche. They’ll be contacting the factory Monday for me to see what’s happening. I may just have to try to find one online or pursue a 991.2 wheel. Ugh

Time to upgrade to the 991.2 lol

i just ordered a 991.2 GT wheel to replace my 991.1 sport design wheel, and the airbag for the 991.2 is on indefinite backorder suncoast says. they had to order a macan airbag as a work-around, which should hopefully be in in a couple weeks. not sure what the deal with porsche and the 911 steering wheels / airbags being on backorder right now is.

It's not the wheel, it's the airbag which is on some sort of recall. What good is the wheel without the airbag?

I spoke with my dealer and Suncoast today: still on back order with no ETA for all 991.1 and 997 wheels. He said 5-7 weeks ago they just stopped arriving and suncoast is now taking them off their site. My dealer basically told me there's nothing they can do to find out when they might get them.
Anyone here know a route to get some information from Porsche? Pretty annoying & disappointing...

Nino, I am looking for a Sport design wheel for my 981 PDK Cayman track car. If your brothers wheel will fit, please have him contact me. I don’t mind a lightly used wheel. I have a SD wheel on order but have expirenced the same ‘back order “, issue.

Did I miss something? If Ufmike316 is changing his Sports Design wheel, why don't you contact him to see if you can buy it from him once he got the air back for his new steering wheel

Glad you posted about this. I was ready to order one from Suncoast for my 997 and they told me they were on backorder. So looks like we will be waiting until they get them in. It would be nice if they at least had an ETA but from what I understand they don't. Were you planning on ordering from your dealer, or Suncoast?
