Default porsche power package - how effective and reliable is it

For 911S, porsche offers a "power package". I am interested in how effective and reliable it is on 991 series.

These are two different beasts depending on whether you are asking about a 991.1 naturally-aspirated (2012.5-2016) or a 991.2 (2017-2018) turbocharged. Which one are you asking about?

In either case they are both effective and reliable but they are done quite differently.

I am asking about a 2015 911 4S, naturally aspirated, so I guess it's a 991.1. Do you have an idea of how much extra you would pay for a car with this package vs. without?

My guess is 25K or so difference. That's what I've heard from the dealer at least here in CA.

It sounds like the dealer was trying to get you to give him some awfully good money for that! I'm certainly it should be dramatically less than that... in the high single digit thousands over a comparable 4S I'd guess... but I'll let those with more experience make a call on that.

FYI OP, the Power Kit is the same engine top-end parts and tuning upgrade that the GTS models get as part of being a GTS, and the GTS models are certainly holding their value much better than other non-GT Carrera's. However, I'm not clear that that price boost completely transfers to a 4S with the kit. The GTS will also have center lock wheels and the interior differences that some prefer and others don't. They are both wide-bodies, but most GTS's (non GTS 4's) don't have all-wheel-drive and are a little lighter and generally considered to be a little more nimble. Overall I just don't expect a 4S with the Power Kit to bring as much as a GTS... but it should bring more than any other 4S.... somewhere in-between the two.

You probably are correct. The upgrade kit itself is about $11K and Porsche Power Kit option is what, 12K? But then my question was on an upgrade from C2S done by a dealer. In any case I chose to go GTS.
