I had been looking at tires as part of my dream build. I had been thinking I should just go with the 19" rim just for what appears to more sidewall to the tire to ride on in case of a flat. I know the 20's are better handling etc.. I was wondering if Nick had 20" Michelin Pilots would he have been saved from the rim rash. I think it looked like damage at the sidewall too, so not repairable. Hope he gets enough views to help offset his cost!
Anyone change up to different tires for a better sidewall? Or even downsize? I know, it's a sports car. I'm looking for pure performance..etc..
I bought tire/rim windshield insurance on my lease. Paid for itself in the short two years I had the car as I got TWO flats on my 20" wheels. Fortunately by rim was not damaged.

Your choice of 19" or 20" rims will have zero impact on whether you experience rim damage from a flat tire.
Ugh...after watching that video, I'm calling for a flatbed and calling it a day.
I remember changing a tire on my car on the side of the Snelweg in the Netherlands as it began to rain, at dusk, with cars zipping by me at very high speeds. That was back when cars actually came with spare tires!
My entire sidewall had blown out, hole was big enough that you could put your hand through it. Squirting goo into it wouldn't have helped...
If I can't fix it with my vulcanized tire plug kit, I'm calling the flatbed. I don't think I'll ever mess with the tire filler kit provided by Porsche. Looks like too much work. I can plug a tire in a few minutes.
Another reason not to use 20 inch winter tires in the 295 width and 30 aspect ratio. Even less sidewall than the summer tires during pothole season. But Nick has RAS and had no choice I suppose.
He may want to check the alignment and suspension bits too. Although I do wonder with all the potholes I have to drive thru , how deep or hard into a pothole you have to go to damage a 911 suspension or steering.
You've got to give Nick Murray credit for keeping a cool head in an unfortunate situation, making a decent video, and staying in good cheer while doing so. I couldn't have done that.
