Default Carrera T - 4 way or 18 way seats

I've currently specced the 4 way seats in my T but I'm wondering whether to go for the 18 ways.

I spent a couple of hours on Saturday at PEC in the 18 ways and thought they were superb but felt that the 4 ways were "basically the same but cheaper". I know the 18 ways seats are a LOT heavier and although I'm not really interested in all the adjustments I understand that the 18 ways allow for better under-thigh support, which I like.

Here in the UK the difference in price is £1,734, so not insignificant, but are they worth the extra?

I believe Nick Murry states that the 18 way has more padding. I’ve spent multiple 10 hour days in them and they’re fantastic.

Do you have pics of your 18-way seats in houndstooth?

I have 18way adaptive and they are fantastic. I however have a Cab - For the T, pending sitting in it and liking it would get the basic, manual, light 4 way.

If you're not going stripper then get the buckets!

My decision would be based on the height between the 4 way and 18 way. Which seat provides more headroom?

Surprised to see the 18-ways ahead here. Generally see seats as a very personal choice (for the obvious reasons), but I know a LOT of people who ordered 18W only to sit in 4W and be tripped out by what I have been tripped out by: No matter how you adjust the 18W, they are not as comfortable. I learned one reason why from some engineers last year: There is less padding because of more motors. Ventilated seats also reduce the amount of foam within. I find that, even when I get comfortable in the 18 ways, I get sore after a while. I think it's the lack of foam.

Plus, the 18 ways are boat anchors where the 4 ways are pretty light even next to the "lightweight" buckets, which have motors in them.

Of course, I am sure there are some who will disagree—and I am sure they are not wrong for them. Just passing my take along…

18 ways do have less padding but a properly adjusted seat is fine without it. As you said - personal choice. Getting the wings tightly hugging you make all the difference in the world in terms of support. Most people don't adjust them tight enough around you. This helps tremendously.

If the selling point of the T is its lighter simpler sport car vibe, don't see why you'ed get the 18-ways unless you really think you need them to be comfortable.

I love my simple 4 way sports plus seats.

I think the 18 way seats come with memory settings for two keys and side view mirrors that to me is a big selling point

Then you must regularly share your Porsche. You are generous. I'm not. I set the seats and mirrors once and that's pretty much it.

I wish we got the folding buckets here in the US- preserves rear access, light, good lateral support. As they are unavailable the 4 ways are my second choice, followed by fixed buckets (your LWB should be a little lighter than ours). I’m not a fan of the 18 ways in general, but especially on a T. They seem more appropriate for a Turbo. $.02

Nothing beats manual seat adjustments quite frankly. The simplicity and lightness wins all the time. 4-ways all the way.

I would focus on minimalist in a T , my $0.02. Also, the 4 way are really comfortable. Or buckets =)

If you don't need the backseat I'd get the buckets... Otherwise the 4-way seats are awesome
