Hey guys!
Thanks for all the replies.
OK so I had the AWE system installed today at TAG.
By the time we were done it was later in the day so I didn't have much time to drive the car with the new system.
That said, on my way back the hyw turned into an F1 track, wowwww that thing screams above 5000rpm!
Almost reminded me of the IPE.
It is loud though, no doubt... louder than I was anticipating.
That said, with the valve closed it's totally quiet and no drone!
The guys from TAG were kind enough to offer taking pictures of the install process and I've got some nice shots of the PSE side by side with the AWE.
They haven't emailed them to me yet but I'll post those up as soon as I get them!
OK I plan to do a multitude of driving roads over the weekend and I'll get back to you guys.
Cheers!

Targa Trophy run
Hey Guys, OK so I had a chance to drive the 991 with the AWE today at the Targa Trophy run.
All I can say is WOWWWWWWWW hahahahahahaha it screamed like the sky was on fire!
As much as I'm trying to come to terms with the loss of the beautiful sophisticated tone from the PSE... the AWE axe-murderer is glorious when opened up.
We did get a bit carried away at some points... and got a Police "escort" (incl. helicopter lol).
But all 'n all, what a great run!
I will say that the tone and volume of the AWE has changed on this 2nd day of driving with it.
My hypophysis is that the carbon build up on the interior of the exhaust is responsible for this.
Also there was other 991 with AWE and his sound very, very different to mine... not sure why.
Mine was more high-pitched and sounded more exotic-ish.
First time I'm surrounded custom/super cars that my 991 sounded like it belonged.
Granted some were so crazy loud it was actually unbearable... made mine sound civilized
Still not sure if I can come to term with the extremes of this exhaust... totally silent (valves closed) "gates to hell open up" (in a nice way) when valves open.
Will drive it around in a more docile manner tomorrow and see.
Was going to post some pics of the AWE instal at TAG, PSE comparison, etc. but TAG has still not emailed me the pics.
In the intermediate though... here some shots of the Targa Trophy meet this morning.
Cheers!

If you drive at about 72mph constant speed in 7th like on the freeway, there may be a hint of drone, but on freeway cruises, I never have my exhaust on. Once you remove cats, you're messing with emissions, which is unnecessary, plus you can't turn off the headers like you can with valves. Be intelligent.

I disagree with this post, but not completely. My Awe added a perfect amount of aggression to the exhaust note and sounds perfectly aggressive when driven hard.

Good eye!
Yup, met quite a few OCR PCA members there.
Good group of guys, hoping to join them on their next ride.
Yeah the sound at WOT is very close to IPE but just putting around, that's what I'm trying to come to terms with.
Mind you, when the valves are closed it is totally stealth.

Awesome stuff OC 991 !! Sounds killer! We gotta meet up again soon and hit the canyons.
Or does closing the valves and running through the side mufflers reduce the emissions (enough)?
That said there were some Lambo's, McLaens etc at the run too though.... just no Ferrari's
