@shammerman Thank you for posting that notice!
I have no vibration, but lots of noise at speed; will have to ask about that.

Depends on how you define it, since all Targas these days are (twin) turbo. 😇
Of course, they didn't used to be, so a "Turbo Targa" had real meaning.
But no, haven't heard of a modern Turbo available in a Targa body style (unless you count Ruf). And since it wasn't there on the 991, I wouldn't expect it for the 992.

My 2016 991.1 Targa has this issue. Of course, every time I bring in the car for service it works perfectly 🤦♂️ It seems to fail whenever the top hasn’t been retracted for a while/outside in the rain for a while etc. It’s very frustrating.

You have to work it.
Every year when you have the car serviced it should include the lube and adjustment of the top mechanism.
You should also get familiar with the emergency release, this disconnects the motor and lets you operate the top manually.

I just live with the release after it has been sitting for a while. Now I just give the roof a little bit of help to break the front rubber seal by putting my hand on the central roof module and applying just a little pressure and it will break free and work as normal.

Happened again...darn it
Funny timing. The ding-dong thing happened again recently.
Had normal scheduled service at the beginning of November, but then was away for most of the month.
Drove it early Saturday morning, putting the top down with no issue. But it was really foggy out -- not raining -- so there was moisture in the air. Came back and put the top up (mouse problem in the garage) -- again, no issue. Took it back out a few hours later, and went to lower the top. It started...but then failed; it would only allow me to close it. Trying to open it again later failed immediately, as though once it hits the fault, it "remembers" until the code is cleared.
Painful.

For those of you that have the Smart Top module, do you replace it with the factory module when you bring it to a dealer for service? My 2019 GTS is still on CPO and don’t want to jeopardize my coverage.
thanks,
Tony

If I’m taking my car to the dealer for an issue not related to the top, I just disable the SmarTop so that it functions normally.
The one time I took my car in for a top related issue (minor, just a rattle) I removed the SmarTop from the car. Probably overkill, but worth it rather than risk being denied service because I installed the SmarTop.
