Hi Guys, thought I'd post up a recently installed GT3 Tek diffuser.
After getting some feedback from a fellow rennlister I thought I'd try it out.
Drove to San Diego to pick it up and then had it painted and installed by LNC in Laguna Niguel.
Fit is pretty good, not perfect (I have a fairly high OCD standard ;-)) but overall I'm happy with the way it looks.
Had the car for a few years now and after installing the TechArt typeII wing last year, I felt it needed to be balanced with a defuser of some sort.
This does the trick nicely as it actually has a synergy in design/shape with said wing.
It actually looks better in person, but here's some pics.
Looks like a very clean and natural install. It would be better is the sides near the exhaust followed the lines of the rear bumper, but
maybe that would reduce the air follow somehow.
I have OCD myself haha, which part bothers you, you mind sharing as Im looking for a diffuser as well.
assume this one is strictly for aesthetic rather than functional.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Yeah I'm pretty happy with the way it balances the wing out.
The part that needs some finesse is the end sections (where it wraps down).
There's a slight gap between the diffuser and the bumper...
Going to tape it off and fill it in with some black silicone.
Thanks!
Yeah it does look pretty good
I'm kinda hoping the clear-coat willl hold up to the sand blasting effect of road use.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

If a mod looks like it could be an OEM addition that's when I'm happiest.
Funny enough, the sections which you're talking about standing out are actually the parts which have the biggest visual impact.
It makes it look wider at the bottom and more angular, but in a good way.
Mind you it's gloss black on black so the impact with the piece painted in a lighter body colour might be too much...
Here's a better pic, to illustrate.
It looks really good! Makes the *** end look even more aggressive.
Hey Code!
Thanks for the feedback on the piece!
Glad I decided to take the time to go get the piece.
I did add an extra layer of double sided tape as per your suggestion but ended up with getting the wrong damn tape, sigh.
I just focused on "extra strong" on the packaging... turns out it was for moulding (the type with the foam).
Found out to0 late (after application to the piece) so left it, but now in the pieces where there's a space you can see the grey from the tape (ok if you're laying down or are on your knees but still )
No choice but to fill it in with black silicone at this point, my OCD won't allow me to leave it like this.
But like you said, it does make the rear of the car look more aggressive (and wider).
So mission accomplished!
To be honest, I never liked this diffuser because it looked really plasticy in photos. But with your wing and everything painted, it looks great. Did you paint it black? It looks balanced.

Did you consider the Vorsteiner diffuser?
Hi Johnny, LOVE what you've done to your 991, mean, classy and functional!
Re; this defuser... I concur.
Normally I too find it a bit "unsubstantial" looking, but I believe that's in big part to how it photographs.
For me, a Porsche 911 and something painted with "a can" are mutually exclusive... this extents to other high-end vehicles.
That said, because of it's location and how the light reflects, it certainly is a possibility for this piece (if one was so inclined).
I already had the side skirt, front lip and original "diffuser panel" painted in Basalt Black (and covered in Xpell premium) so having this new defuser painted the same was always the plan.
I understand why most probably don't paint it (professionally) , it's really a fine distinction between gloss or satin (especially on a black car).
To get it painted and installed will cost you at least as much as the piece itself did...
Since all the trim pieces (well most) are painted and clear coated it makes a notable difference.
Most will notice something makes this 991 look different (compared to an identical car without all the trim painted gloss) they just can't put their finger on what it is.
I kinda dig that
Looked at the Vorsteiner... it certainly looks great!
But the 2 fans on top are blowing air over the engine to cool things down and the Vorsteiner changes the fluid dynamics to such a degree (by putting a panel under the entire engine) that I am sure it has a significant impact on the cooling capacity of said 991.1 engine.
I know they changed the design (adding 2 openings) but it still doesn't do it for me.
I drive my 991 fairly hard (always above 4k rpm the way the na likes it best ) as a result when I park the fans are always on for at least 2 min.
Under those conditions I believe the Vorsteiner just isn't for me.
I wanted one just to complete the overall look I was going for... so this little cover defuser fit the bill nicely.
I know, know this whole cabrio is a bit of a "poser"... and I'm strangely comfortable with that.

Reason: Holy autocorrect... still getting to grips with posting
Thanks!
