I ordered my C4S as a sunroof delete, partially because I like the look of the car without the black glass look. I think it destroys the lines of the car. YMMV.

When I have my clear film replaced I'm likely doing the roof in black vinyl. I think it will look good!

Meh. I’m into black roofs when right, but imo the 991 looks just as good without as with. I considered it, but being that my cars Aqua Blue is one of its best design features, I definitely don’t want to cover up any of the paint if I can help it.

i feel the same way

i see some pics of black roof and love it

some pics of gt cars and love them, and none of them have black roof

but want a little more black contrasta on my car, and hey it is vinyl, so i can take it off if i dont like it

what i am afraid is that the finish doesnt look good, or air bubbles

no one has gone this route?

i see full wrapped cars, but not many black roof wraps

some pics from my actual car for reference

Not sure if you want to go the Gloss/Piano Black route or Matte finish.... I personally went for matte finish (although my current GTS has the glass roof so it is gloss black!). My C4S had metal roof, not the glass. No issues with air bubbles or marking if you take your time and install properly. I've done matte finish roof as well as hood wraps to go with an overall GT Silver / Matte Black scheme. Did all the work myself. I've posted up to my blog if you're still interested...

Whatever you choose to do, make it your own. Don't worry about what others opinions are about vinyl, color changes, accents or styling. I've found personally over the years that for every one negative comment you get there are many many more that can appreciate the uniqueness put into the car.... Cheers!

I've seen it done when it looks great, and seen it done when it looks like crap, but I think a silver 991 coupe does lend itself to a gloss black roof.

The best part is that if you decide you don't like it, you can peel it off, be back to stock, and only out a comparatively modest sum.

Do you have other black details on the car? Wheels?

Dont be scared to try it. Worst case scenario you pull it off and are out whatever it cost you. If you think it is the look you want go for it...and post pics when done.

Would definitely go gloss. I have always thought matte accents are odd. All matte to me looks good. Matte pieces look like an afterthought.

JMHO.

The 3M wrap itself can be purchased on eBay cheaply, and wrapping a relatively flat area like the roof isn't nearly as hard as complex curves.... Might give it a try yourself to see if you like the look?
