Pricing on CPO 2017 Carrera S
I test drove a CPO CS today. It was a demo car formerly driven by a regional rep for training dealerships. I translate that as “it’s been driven hard.”
It had about 9,000 miles on the clock. Good options: Sport, SPASM, PDK, Bose, 18 way, leather, PDLS, carbon fiber trim.
Original sticker was ~130k dealer ask is 115k. Being that it’s a former demo car and it’s the end of the year I offered 106k. They were offended. You would think I said they had an ugly baby. They didn’t even attempt a counter offer. Was my offer that far out of line?
Oh and this was after the salesman kept me waiting for 45 minutes even though we had an appointment.

I was in a very similar situation as you not too long ago. Same ordeal with pretty much same car. They wouldn't budge a penny and I've noticed they lowered the price online recently.
You are not out of line, they are. I have been battling salesmen nationwide the past week through email. These guys are pro. I have to catch myself because I end up trolling them at times for the laughs.
Some dealers have raised prices in the last couple days. Trying to find a sale in December is a myth. More like the reverse effect.

Similar shopping experience here. Honestly this seems like the worst time to be shopping for a car, both used and new. BTW the car you're looking at... I have seen better deals on 2017s with barely any mileage on them. That would be a rip off at 115, and considering how it was used i wouldn't even consider it at 106.
Like nino mentioned, dealers are pretty pro at pulling **** out of their asses. And especially for porches, it seems like they would rather let cars sit on the lot for months before dropping the price on them. I guess there are always suckers who walk in randomly and buy these at ridiculous prices.

I think your $106 offer was very good. $104 would have been better. Just wait. Make sure they know how to contact you. Check in again in a week or two. As long as you don't plan to own the car past the CPO warranty period, I wouldn't worry about the car being a "demo". Make sure all the CPO checklist maintenance work is completed. To also include; frsh oil, brake fluid flush, 4 fresh brake pads (since it was a demo...I'd want this), and an alignment (since it was a demo....this too). One more item, good rear tire depth.

If you had a trade they would have no problem offending you!
I think that was a reasonable offer, but some dealerships do like their museum pieces. My local has a new '17 that was built 20 months ago....still sitting at full sticker. Go figure.

You offer was more than fair. The sticker is 130k which means it could have been purchased for $124k. And they want $115k for a demo car with 9,000 miles? Ebay has a 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S with only 600 miles and a $134K sticker with a buy it now of $119k.

I literally just went through the same thing - I was looking at demo/pre-owned CPO 2017s ... I just closed on my deal 1 week ago. Some dealers are trying to treat Demos like they are "new cars with miles that have been gently used by some executive" or some other BS line. The fact is that it is a used car and in some cases abused cars.
My 2017 S is a one owner CPO with 4k miles. MSRP was $137k and I closed the deal at $99.8k. I've seen many Demo cars with similar MSRP's (or higher) listed for sale at the $105k mark and under in the Northeast.

Thank you for the feedback. I am going to walk away from both that car and that dealership.

from my experience it varies greatly based on location. I've been able to get a few % on new orders, but CPO GTSs less lucky, mostly bs discounts like "we will take a grand off!"
i think the best discounts are around 2017 cars right now, either showroom cars or demos that have been used slightly. There was a specc'd out 17 GTS in the bay area where the dealer just took off 14% without any negotiations..

It depends on how bad the dealer wants to sell a car.
I called a few dealers that had specs I wanted ... I told them what I was willing to pay based off of other listings (and the percentage discount from MSRP) that i had seen on the market. I let them know I was ready to move and would be selecting the car based on the first dealer to meet my price.
Here is the little spread sheet I made for myself.
