Default "The Getawayer" Guido Komp review of the .2 GTS

Definitely worth a view! And please post in the comments asking for English subtitles on his .2 GT3 review.

I really don’t know if this one is really “worth the view”.

So he doesn’t like it basically because it’s no GT3 or does not have the n/a engine character of the 991.1.

Well, somehow I already knew that it was not going to be anything like the GT3 even before watching the video.
But surely he must have some good explanation why he does not like it? But that seems to be missing in the video. Okay it’s his opinion of course, but not a really substantiated opinion.

I am no racing driver but judging from the guys from head2head, who did the irl comparison between the 991.2 GTS and the BMW M4 CS, it’s a mighty impressive and fun car to drive on track and on the road, concerning driving capabilities, sound, power, performance, etc. I have driven 991.1 S and GTS and the 991.2 S and GTS extensively and somehow my opinion is also quite more positive than that of our Guido.

i will concede that based on this one video, you might wonder why he keeps comparing it to a GT3. But having watched and digested all his other 991 videos (and most of his others) I view his comments with a different frame of reference. He definitely prefers his performance cars on the more raw side.

He misses the noise of the engine and the feeling that the car/motor is straining to performance to its maximum.

Thanks for the post. I always enjoy his reviews as well. I agree w/ him. Especially given how hard it is to buy a GT3 nowadays, it's indeed disappointing.

I must have watched his video of the 981 100 times while waiting for my car to arrive. I like him and I agree with his viewpoint on sports cars.

I just listened to his review again and his comments on the engine are way off mark - and I drive that engine everyday of the week. Its basically a poor review with a very obvious predetermined outcome.

Just another its got be a manual NA or its not a Porsche type journo.

The reality is the GTS is as quick as the GT3 round a track and is better, for most on public roads (can be more compliant, dual character e.g. quiet or loud, 4 seats, much quicker going up hills, daily driving torque and HP way in excess of the GT3, even more optionality in the internal fit out).

I agree with that but is that what makes a sports car?

thanks, but this isn't a debate on the GTS or a condemnation of the .2's. Just his review.

Ah yes, as opposed to your pre-determined "I drive this engine every day and love it so no one better criticize it" comments. Go watch some of his other videos and try again.

I actually posted the link to this review before watching it, and was surprised that he was as negative as he was on the car. Based on my viewing of many of his previously videos, I actually did not expect it.

Had he not reviewed the GT3 previously I suspect he GTS review would be somewhat different, and IMHO the 3.0 turbo is a better match with the PDK than the 7MT which is not a favorite of the "purist" crowd that Guido and most of the internet sports car "journos" write for. The minimal lag is less noticeable w/ PDK and broad torque band makes the MT less satisfying since there is little need to shift gears to maximize the engine performance. I had a .1 C4S w/ PSE and was underwhelmed by the sound and performance, which is why I moved to a .1 GT3. I sold the .1 GT3 during the engine debacle, and I currently have a .2 C2S which I have thoroughly enjoyed, and frankly have some misgivings about getting into the .2 GT3 which will be delivered early next year. The .2 is an excellent car with an overall excellent engine that provides real world flexibility and an engine sound that does credit to the 911.

Very balanced write up and choice of words sir. Couldn’t agree more.
