Running battery charger cable out under the door?
Just got a Porsche/CTEK charger and plugged it into the outlet in the passenger footwell. I ran the cable out through the bottom of the driver side door, but it's a rather tight fit coming out under the door and I worry that the wiring could get pinched/shorted over time. Is there a better spot to run the wire (other than through a partially open window?
Thanks!

I run mine from the 12 volt socket in the center armrest and out over the top of the window. I think it's well cushioned between the window and the window gasket there.

Some of us have the battery maintainer connected directly to the battery.
Works great.

Me too. I use the center console and crack the window just a tiny bit to let the cord run out. I use the driver's side so I always notice it and can't drive away with it attached (not that it's ever happened to me, but...)

On my wife's Cayman, I set up the pigtail like CSK shows. It's great.
I never got around to trying it with my C4S. With that car, I always ran it from the passenger footwell to a partially opened window. Since the car was garaged when I did this, it had no drawbacks other than being inconvenient. Under the door is probably safe, but made me uncomfortable.
The one issue with running a pigtail is that it appears to be impossible to remove the nuts for the battery connectors, which means you can't properly attach loops. You have to use spade connectors, or cut loops to turn them into spade connectors.

Been closing the door on one of my maintainer cords for over 12 years. Never an issue. Years ago on the 996 series there was a notch in the bottom of the door seal to route the cord. It's just not necessary any longer.

Speaking of CTEK. Which model do you all recomand? I'm in the need of another one and have not done any research yet. All my other ones are Battery Tender. Are there any new ones to consider? Thanks in advance.

I run mine in the passenger door sill. Not worried about how tight it is - can still move the cord around in there somewhat.
Does it matter which 12v socket we're using? I'm using the one in the armrest area.

Never an issue and better than leaving a window cracked letting in moisture, etc.
The bottom seal is very flexible. Never an issue with it or the cord.
