Default WTH is this????

so I have seen this on the same place since the car was new 3 months ago. I have 1390 miles on it now, took the longest drive in the mountains today about 130 miles. So I see this only on the driver side. It washes away with water but what the heck is it? Not thrilled that it’s getting stuck on the clear bra seam in the back of the door jam. It does not seem like oil, but it’s not 100% dry either, but like i said a water hose takes it right off?

Thoughts?

Pump out some of your washer fluid, to lower the level.

It's one of Rennlists many great debates.

Some say washer fluid overflow, mixing with dirt and dust.

Others say condensation coming off the AC condenser. What's you weather there?

Hot and dry in so ca. I will run the wiper fluidpump tomorrow to lower the level. I would never use the wipers anyhow. Just really odd.

Thx lex, love the Nun!

i did look inside the frunk, pulled off the battery cover, can’t see a broken hose. I am thinking of just draining the fluid as I don’t drive in the rain and I would never use the wiper fluid to clean the windshield. Any issue with this? I think the only way to drain it is to run the pump. I do not like those streaks at all, especially after washing the car.

i do think it’s wiper fluid as it made some suds when I hit it with the hose. Any issue with draining it all? I will have the dealer look at it at my first oil change.

Do what Money2536 just did.

Run on your washers until fluid is gone
Fill part way with distilled water (one day you will want something in there and you'll regret if its dry)
wash car immediately.

Mine is doing this too but until seeing this thread I just figured it was from splashing though a puddle ...

What exactly is happening here ? Washer fluid leaking ?

Im in the northeast so the AC hasn’t been doing much lately since I’ve last washed the car ...

I saw him doing that on his new Raptor and it's what I've always done on all my cars for the same reason (no residue or water spots). The OEM Porsche fluid was super greasy and left all kinds of residue. However, when I filled my 991.2 with distilled, the car kept giving me the refill washer fluid warning. I believe I even tried mixing in a little hard Texas tap water and that didn't work either. Eventually, I ordered some of the Einzett washer fluid and added that (very diluted) and that solved the problem, although I don't like that there is anything soapy in there.

I also heard that running simply distilled water in the reservoir has caused others to get mold in it, resulting in the need for a costly replacement, so that freaked me out a bit also. That said, I've been running distilled water as washer fluid in my cars for years and have never had an issue. And living in TX, freezing fluid isn't a concern, either.

To to the OP, I concur that just keeping your reservoir less full should mostly eliminate the rocker panel residue problem.

Thx, but where is it leaking from? Is there a broken line? It would seem odd to have so many with the same issue. I will drain some of it but seriously, this should not be happening. Pita!
