I'd guess not, as the controller won't know how to talk to them. It'd be interesting to hear from someone who has actually tried it.

If you're just looking for better light quality, I've been really happy with the low-beam lamp upgrade described in this thread. After swapping out the bulbs, I probably wouldn't upgrade to LEDs even if I could.

I believe this question is asked regularly and the answer is always "no"

They are not plug & play. And you don't have the forward looking camera.

Camera? Can you talk a little more about that? I have LEDs and I'm not familiar with a forward camera.

On my 991.1 with LEDs, it has a front camera opposite the rearview mirror. Maybe it's because I also have PDLS Plus? But I thought that's a bundled integrated package with the LEDs.

Like LexVan says, it is looks out the windshield via the nearly triangular port next to the mirror.

LED headlights include PDLS Plus, which includes the auto-highbeams feature and even more elaborate behavior in the RoW (Rest of World non-US cars). If you enable Auto-HighBeams from the multi-function display, then pushing forward once on your high beam stalk at night enables automatic high beams. You will see a second green high-beam symbol light up with an A in the middle. This uses a combination of speed, the camera's sensing of other car's headlights and tail lights to control the high beams pretty darned well. Interestingly enough, in RoW cars, PDLS Plus will also work with the navigation system to alter the behavior of the lights as you approach intersections, illuminated the turning lights even when you aren't turning to better help view the intersection. In the RoW cars the high beam behavior is also more elaborate and they stay on longer... just pointing themselves down and away from any other cars it senses before dimming altogether. US lighting laws do not allow this unfortunately.

Ahhh.... I thought you were somehow referring to a camera mounted to the bumper (a-la-Audi).

Here is mine:

I moved to Korea from Chicago for work with my 991.1S.
There are shops here that retrofit PDLS Plus. I looked into it. There are four modules in addition to AFS controller that are required as well as the plug/line modification.
Total cost of retrofitting with full OEM functions (including PIWIS reprogram) was around USD 7k.

I will share the blog (albeit in Korean) of the retrofit if anyone is interested.

Best,
HW

About to attempt this, other than the windshield replacement it doesn't look too difficult. Here are the required parts that I have assembled. Prices listed are my cost, retail is significantly more. You can shave some cost off if you can repair the damaged headlights that are on eBay, for example by using your existing headlight glass and installing it to a damaged headlight w/ RTV sealant.

7PP.907.537 AFS Leveling Module $100 (QTY 1)
7PP.941.329 LED Controller $200 (QTY 2 @ $100)
7PP.941.572.BB LED Power Supply $200 (QTY 2 @ $100)
7PP.980.653 Camera $100 (QTY 1)
991.555.715.00 Camera Glass Defroster $15 (QTY 1)
991.631.175.11 LED Headlight L Grey $850
991.631.176.11 LED Headlight R Grey $850
991.541.911.15 Windshield, Camera Mount, Tinted Upper $650
991.555.625.01 Camera Mount, Windshield $0 incl. w/ windscreen

Connectors/Wiring:
7M3-972-726-A - Connector for AFS Module 26 Pin Blue
8D0-972-623-A - 2-pin Connector for Camera Heater Module
1J0-973-735-A - 10-pin Connector for LED Headlamps, (QTY 2)
1-1534096-1 - MQS (Micro Quadlock System) Connector Housing, 6x2 for Camera Module
1-284442-1 - MQS Connector Plug, 6x2, for Camera Module
1-144969-1 - MQS Terminals, Tin Plated, Female, 40pcs (26x AFS, 12x Camera, 2x Spares)
Total connectors - $25

Other:
Fabric Wiring Loom Tape
Molex crimp tool
Wire Taps to connect camera module to can crash, power.
Wire: Twisted pair for canbus, 18 Ga for power
Labor: Windshield replacement
Coding: PIWIS II

Total cost of retrofit: ~$3000

If anybody is interested, I will try and take some pictures as I go along to put up a guide. Probably not worth the cost for most people, but I absolutely hate the PDLS lights that are on my car, and I think the PDLS+ LED DRLs make the car look a lot nicer in general. My car has PDLS already, and I don't believe this is possible with non-PDLS lights since it looks like the sensors in the axles are not present on that configuration.

I will almost certainly never come close to attempting it, but I am incredibly interested to see how it works and how it comes out...

Fitted the lights this morning. Everything works except adaptive high beam, since the camera needs to be installed still (which requires a new windshield). If anyone wants to retrofit and not bother with replacing the windshield / camera, everything will work fine except for adaptive high beams.

I also left my original DRLs wired, but I'm not 100% sure if they should be disconnected with PDLS+.

Chris, since you have done this you are the guy to ask..

Can a car with Xenon lights be converted to LED?
Forgetting the adaptive high beams/camera.. Can the lights themselves be converted from the xeon to the LED?

Thanks for doing this, you are a brave dude.
