Yup. Not very steep either. I only drive it on dry days or really light snow.
SQ5 on Scorpion winters for the rest.
Keep in mind I didnt drive it much last winter as I just got it Dec16 and we didnt have a ton of snow. With all the weight over drive wheels im sure traction wont be a big problem. Maybe some weight in fronk to assist grip/braking?

tse, can you share the exact size Michelin Alpins you purchased for 19" wheels? I was searching for Alpins at Tire Rack and they only have them listed available for 20" rims. Thanks.

They're 235/40/19 and 285/35/19 n-spec (got them as part of my car purchase)

Took two weeks to get here from Germany. I believe they were made in France...

The Alpins are a great winter performance tire for dry cold days, but I don’t think I’d trust them to work really well in heavy snow. Haven’t tried though so maybe? Regardless I really like them for the 911. But I take the 911 out on clear dry winter days and the SUV (on snow tires) on the other days. I don’t want to worry about things like salt corroding the 911 over the years or about hitting a chunk of icy debris on the freeway.

Nokians are my favorite brand for actual snow tires when I want snow performance. Alpins are my favorite winter performance tires when I want summer type performance in the wintertime.

Pa4 here. C2s sucked in snow. Don’t believe the hype. Turbo is great with awd. Agree pa4 look more like cold weather tires than snow.

I don't winter drive my 911, but the comment on Pilot Alpin PA4's was surprising to me. I have those on my daily driver (Golf R - AWD, but really, mostly FWD) - I've had great success with those tires over two seasons so far.

I had to do a drive from Calgary to Montana last Thanksgiving to pick up a bunch of parts for my brothers 240Z project - brutal weather that day, solid ice and snow on the roads... 4x4's in the ditches everywhere. Handled it like a champ.

I’ve driven mine on packed snow and even light powder plenty of times. They do fine. Great tire.

I'm planning on a similar strategy, cold dry days yes, heavy snow the wifey can drive me to work as she has Hakkas on her bimmer and no problem in snow.

I will certainly try it out in heavier snow as the opinions here vary but my biggest fear of course is the other guy on all seasons thinking he can stop in time.

I've seen numerous videos now of C2s on snow (packed) with this tire and it seems to perform reasonably well but haven't seen it on the slushy/greasy stuff yet, this is where I believe it will get tricky.

We'll soon find out...

Thats why I won't drive mine if there is brutal weather. Not worried about salt or traction as much as getting hit. Those tires are great on cold pavement. Winter roads are clear most of the time.

Oakville.

Usually we don't allow it to snow here but we may make an exception...

Took her out today in heavy rain and was impressed at how well composed the PA4s were.

I can't wait to try them in snow.

Default Pirelli Sottzero in Snow?

Anyone have any experiences with the Pirelli Sottzero tires in the winter? Just installed my 19" winter tires/rims and this will be the first time Ive even considered driving any of my sports cars in the winter snow

The Sottozeros are awesome snow tires. I don't have them on my 911, but I do have them on my BMW , and the difference between them and the stock Goodyear all seasons is remarkable. Not just in terms of stability and take-off but more importantly braking in deep snow and ice. Ride quality is also excellent.
