I simply love Agate Grey. So much so I also got my Macan in the same color. I find Volcano Grey in person just looks like a dark metallic grey, whereas the Agate Grey tends to pick up more of the light so that's why you can get blue to grey to brown perceptions. I have gotten many compliments on the color choice. (this picture, incidentally, was taken on delivery day!)

May I make a small commentary? I ordered my first 911 in 1987 in Polar Silver Metallic. I remember loving the color in the daylight at the dealership. I drove it home and tucked it into my neon-lit garage. I walked out during the first evening to just admire it and it became clearly light blue. I examined it many, many other evenings and it was clearly light blue. You can see it with my others at https://rennlist.com/forums/991/8739...-porsches.html. That was not my expectation so I traded it for a Black 1989 Targe. There was no mistaking that color. My wife was its biggest fan.

I guess that the bottom line is to just fall in love with a color and look at it under various lightings. I must say, I have a friend who has a 2014 Agate Grey Boxster with Yachting Blue interior. I loved it so much, I ordered my GTS in the same combination. Every day I get aggressive compliments. I appreciate them tremendously but I am beginning to fear for my safety and that of my wife when either of us drive it. People, incuding police, pull me off the road to speak about it.

The dress is gold!

Seriously, though, I do see a lot of "taupe" in Agate.

My agate looks nothing like brown, not even close.

Digital monitors are not perfect for showing colors and background and lighting impact perception but here's agate gray showing it's brown

+1

The inside of my pebble/agate 4S is why I bought this particular car. The exterior Agate has grown on me as has the Turbo II wheels, but I still really loved (and miss) the GT silver in my old 997.

I even bought another gray car, 'Daytona Gray Pearl' in Audi's SQ5 last month.
