Default Porsche Factory

Hello fellow Rennlisters,

I arrived to Stuttgart, Germany earlier today and checked into my room at
the Nestor Hotel Ludwigsburg. I have a 10:15 reservation for a factory tour
tomorrow morning.
I would like to know if there's anything I should know about the tour from members who have been here.

I wouldn't want to miss anything!

Thanks,

I've been to the factories in Leipzig and Stuttgart. Cameras are not allowed. Watch out for robots zipping around carrying stuff. Stay in your walking lane. Ask a ton of questions. Guides are knowledgeable. Get the museum tour also.Eat at the restaurant. it has a nice view of the local dealership, factory, museum.

The only other thing you should do is pick up your new Porsche in Stuttgart. You will not be able to get the smile off your face for months.

Good luck sleeping. I recommend a B&B. Benadryl and Bourbon.

Museum is great - also walk through the dealership across the street. It is amazing. Couple of photos - roundabout by the factory/museum/dealership and quote on window of museum.

I did it 25 years ago (on our Honeymoon!)when virtually everything was done by hand and it was incredible. A little different now. Youll love it!

I am thinking of doing this!
Do you have to set this up from the dealership, or will they schedule it directly?
Also, is it pretty easy to schedule at short notice, or are they booked up much in advance?

Just tell the factory your code name is Shmee. And pack the fully charged GoPro.

This pretty much covers it. Enjoy your time there. Definitely don’t miss the museum. If you need to stretch your legs and the weather is decent, the park by the train station is a pleasant place for a walk.

If you're taking a taxi from the hotel to the factory, make sure you give yourself a little wiggle-room - my taxi driver a) didn't speak English (luckily I could use my very rusty minor in German) and b) didn't really know where he was going - I had to break out my phone's GPS to help find the right spot.

Like subshooter and others said - no cameras or camera-equipped devices. Don't try to sneak them in. They'll have you throw your cameras/phones in a box with everyone else's who is on your tour.

When you take delivery, you'll drive your vehicle right out of the building into whatever weather is happening at the time, be it sunshine, rain, or snow. I drove into a heavy rainstorm as a lovely welcome.

Make sure you marvel at the amazing cars parked outside everywhere. It's definitely Porsche heaven.

Most unexpected part of my visit to the Stuttgart museum was the parking garage...so clean...and a few very decent P-cars. The museum is great, just bring extra time to enjoy it. =)
