991GT3RS/981GT4 fabric door pull conversion write-up
Hi guys,
I want to upgrade the 991 metal/alu door handles with the fabric version of the GT3RS or GT4. For that reason I am looking for a diy fabric door pull conversion write-up for the 991/981. What I found is an excellent write-up for the 997 but not for the 991 or 981.
Perfect write-up for 997: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...onversion.html
Strap change for 991/981: https://rennlist.com/forums/gt4/9159...ap-change.html
Can anyone help?
Best Regards

It's cannot be done, or at least not done easily at all. People have tried. There was a RLer who tried about a year ago and said that it was a very complicated conversion and basically gave up. I emailed Suncoast and a few others and they said it could not be done easily or cheaply.

Thanks. Appreciate the response. Upon careful consideration. Given weight savings is a non-factor. The stock GT3 door pulls are more ergonomic, more user friendly, easy to keep clean, work with less effort, never look old or wrinkled, and arguably a better, more efficient design than the RS fabric pulls. Looks like keeping the stock handles makes perfect sense. If it was the other way around, and only the RS cars had the modern-day ergo door pulls and everyone else had the old fabric style pulls - we'd be trying very hard to find ways to 'upgrade' our fabric pulls to the newer egro style pulls. It's funny how we think it's good to downgrade our pulls because our more expensive brother has them. The fabric door pulls hearken back to an age where we cranked the windows by hand. But we don't see any effort being made to add a crank handle on our modern cars to look more retro and possibly save weight. Now, after this lengthy response, I'm very happy to stick with the stock door pulls. That is if anyone cares.
