Zunsport Grilles - your thoughts?

What are your thoughts on Zunsport Grilles? I saw a 991 with them installed this past weekend.

I'm always getting debris in front of the radiators but would the grilles reduce airflow?

Your thoughts?

I've had them on for about a year now and love them. No crap in the radiator cubby and I have not noticed any change in operating temps, so I am assuming airflow is just fine. I DD mine, even in the CT winters, and after work if the car has snow on it, I just make sure I give a swipe of the snow brush across the Zunsport grilles to make sure air can flow and have never had a problem. Great product, easy to install and they look great.

Still waiting for them to make them for a C2S without parking sensors.

Still...waiting...

I am loving mine! have had them on for about 4 months and they work great, no problems with temps even in South Texas.

Why would you think the grills would inhibit airflow?

Have had them installed now for 2 weeks on 991.2 and no issues with airflow or operating temp.

Saw a post somewhere else that suggested it.

There is no way a grill like that will really have that much of an impact, now if a piece of foam got stuck on the outside of the grill and blocked actual airflow to the radiators...maybe.

Thanks! Good to know!

ditto!

They will block some air, probably 25% or so. But so will the debris that will collect in the radiator fins if you don't use them.

Definitely, get either the Zunsport grille guards or one of the DIY options that people have described on here over the years. Those open grilles are a (thankfully rare) engineering failure on Porsche's part.

25%? Really?

Highly doubtful. Would love to see the scientific data to support this.

NVRANUF 08-17-2017 10:26 AM

.....and to think grill guards will block all road debris is also highly doubtful. First hand personal data supports this! ;)

Grill guards just make cleaning out the debris a pain in the derrière.

But they look cool (race cars have them) and provide peace of mind (placebo effect).

TOTAL BS on the airflow - you made that up. Sorry to be so blunt.

Don't think grill guards are meant to "block all" road debris. But it is meant to block the larger pieces of debris from entering and hitting your radiators (small rocks, birds). Cheaper to replace the grill guards than the radiators.

Smaller pieces do enter and softer larger debris gets pulverized as it hits the grill guards (ie leaves, twigs, etc), and yes, they are a pain to clean out.
