Default Interior trim glare

I have the standard interior trim and the glare is really bad when it's bright isn't the afternoon. Any ideas other than buying replacement leather or carbon fiber parts?

Sunglasses, or replace with the black brushed aluminum or leather trim.

Drive at night, or cloudy days.

Wrap current trim with a "matte" film.

Ummmm.... I'm out of ideas.

Are you talking about the standard aluminum trim? What color is your interior? I have a base interior and I never had any issues with this

I have the same issue with stock aluminum trim. It has almost a mirror finish, and reflections are occasionally very annoying, especially on the console surround.

Gotta do something soon...

$6 for spray paint.

$17 for a roll of 3M wrap.

$2k for wood or carbon fiber.

I replaced the shifter surround with the black leather version, that caused the most glare for me. Quick swap, takes less than two minutes.

You can also remove and wrap with 3M for a lot less.

How is it done? Can I just pop up that glossy aluminum piece?

Pull one of the center console surround trim laterally (towards the outside of the car). It'll snap off then you have access to the other center surround.

Not my car or photo, also a 981, but same method.

Check out Plenums Blogspot. He covers a lot of DIY topics.

Here is one that might be helpful.

thanks guys! A friend of mine is in process of opening a vinyl wrap shop, maybe he can help me taking care of this. I have graphite blue/chalk full leather interior, I guess going with brush aluminum look wrap might do it. Will post up the final result once it's done 👍

I did matte black wrap on my console trim, turned out great. A perfect match with the pcm trim plastic.
