991.2 TTS - First Oil Change?
RL Family,
I currently have 1400 miles on my 991.2 TTS. When have you guys gotten your first oil change?
I know there is a train of thought to get it done early on. Is that widely agreed upon on this forum?
I'm sure there are several threads out there, but I ran a couple of searches "first oil change", "early oil change", etc. and didn't find any relevant hits on the first 3-4 pages.
Thanks in advance.

Go maybe 300-500 miles, vary throttle and revs slightly often. DON'T drone down the highway at steady engine speed. DO give it some hard throttle when the engine is fully warmed up. You don't have to rev it hard, but you should give it some high boost to seal up those rings. Then, change oil and filter.
My opinion, and it's worth what you paid for it. I have built and run-in many engines harder than this (my race motorcycles usually get full throttle a dozen times in a sequence for breakin) with nothing but success, however YOUR MILAGE MAY VARY as the saying goes.

I've done some oil analysis in the past and concluded it makes sense to change the oil at about 3000-4000 miles.
BMW M suggests an oil change at 1200 miles but the analysis suggests this is wasteful and has no benefit. Jaguar suggests 2000 miles but the analysis of my F-Types oil also showed that this was also too early.
I have found 3000-4000 miles is a better time for first oil change.
BTW even this is a beneficial early oil change. However the lab analysis does show that really you don't need it till about 5k miles plus. However at 4000 miles you contaminants start to be similar to a normal cycle because of the break in wear.

From what i was told by my tuner/dealer,
You should be fine. If you were babying the car, its time to give it few hard accel and don't brake to slow down, let the engine slow down by itself. You don't have to do oil change, but its always good after brake in.
