Please post back.

I was hoping to have reduced my Pirelli's to slicks by now (9.5k) but, alas, I'm not doing it right; they're down by 1/2 only.

Did you buy them for tire rack? I initially got a Mar 24 ship date, but yesterday they got shipped. Should get the front 2 tires today. Of course here in NE we just got 16 inches of snow on Tuesday, so it may be a while before I can put them on the car.

I'm getting my Michelin Pilot Sport 4S put on today. Will report back.

Just so people know - I bought the tires from my Porsche dealer, who got them from Tire Rack. They also price-matched Tire Rack's shipped price which means they must have some wholesale pricing agreement with Tire Rack.

Wow got them from the dealership good for you and good dealership. The 2 dealerships I talked would not match. Tire dealerships would match with shipping, but I wouldn't have them change my CL wheels, if they even could. Got my front tires just this morning.

Not so good. I had agreed a price with them of $270 to mount and balance, and $270 for alignment.

They call this morning and say they didn't know I have center locks and ACC, and because of this they need $624 for mount and balance and $495 for alignment. I told them no.

The guy is supposed to call me back.

There is absolutely no way I am paying these ridiculous prices.

Ouch. My dealership is charging me $200 to mount/balance my tires. I have CL but not ACC. You think a 4 wheel alignment is needed? I was up in the air about the alignment, figured I would do it at 30k miles or if tires started to show signs of uneven wear.

That's nuts!!
My "small town" tire guy charges me $50 Cdn to mount and balance all 4, but I bring him my wheels and pay him cash.

I got them down to $283 on mount and balance, and $445 on the alignment. Still a rip off. But at least I got the tire rack price match on the tires.

$280 is about what Porsche dealer charges - I paid $65 per wheel at two different dealerships for CLs on my GT3. Too expensive still. I normally do it at independent tire shops for $25-40 per wheel (on the lower end, I take wheels off myself, though).

Why do they charge extra for ACC? Is it a more complex install?

What is ACC? Adaptive Crusie Control? Not sure what it would have to do with tires.
