Depending on the value of repairs I'd seriously consider moving it..now you have to also consider diminished value and carfax/etc reports
I would say the only thing worse that a situation like this would be keying and/or intentional valdalism..has never happened to me but that would just be devastating

The CHP that came out to look at it actually ruled it as vandalism , he told me he couldn't find sufficient evidence from the other car. I personally don't think it was vandalism but ultimately it was his perception . He felt that the damage to the light /front fender/bumper looked like someone had walked up and stomped sideways across the front edge of the headlight because there was some mud and it kinda looked like a foot print. My brother and I argued that we weren't sure if a foot was the damage cause because the front fender got pushed back so far that it was now directly touching the front edge of the door, there was no gap left between the door /fender from the top to the middle .The turbo is paid off . Worst case I could give it to my brother in a year or two. He really wants a Porsche after having a chance to drive mine.

I think you are covered by insurance?
Call the police and report to your insurance company.(I assume you've already done this)
Few months ago, my gl63's rear windows was smashed, that b**** broke in and took nothing. I was traveling too!
I called the police, they investigated the case and left me with a case number. My insurance company asked me for the number and covered everything, ofc i had to pay my deducible.

I was driving along a suburban street at a nice 45 miles an hour, and out from the woods comes a deer running at full speed. She ran into the passenger side of my car at full tilt. I pulled over immediately, and jumped out to assess the damage, and caught a glimpse of her getting up, shaking off the impact, and run back into the same woods she came from. She was gone in seconds, and I was left to just stare at the damage to the front fender, passenger door, and rocker panel. I was just sick, because this car was pristine, and was like a close friend to me. How was this ever going to be OK?

Alright, get it fixed and dump it! Right?

I take it to the shop my dealer uses, the "Porsche specialist" in town. They take 6 weeks to get in the OEM replacement parts, get everything aligned, painted, polished, and ready to go. I pick it up, still not as excited about the car as I used to be, but whatever, gotta get it back. Now that it's not "perfect", I doubt it will be the same. Might as well try out the DE day coming up at VIR, since it's already been dinged.

Best thing that ever happened to me. I very quickly forgot the "not perfect" notion, and the car and I really became one on that track day. It was awesome. I was able to drive the car like it was designed, and really learned how seriously extraordinary and sublime the car is. I kept the car 2 more years, having long forgotten the damage and drama of the collision. I served me well for about 50 track days. The car can run with the best GT3, any older RS, any R8, and it's just a rockstar. I let it go last Fall for a 2017 Turbo S, same color, and it's increased capabilities leave no doubt that aside from the 918 and Cup cars, there is not Porsche that can keep up.

Long story, obviously, but it's a true case of taking a negative and making it a positive. Now you have a reason to dig deeper into the car, and without the fear of ruining the heritage of it. The drama and heartbreak will soon pass, and the heart of the car is still lying beneath the cosmetic damage, which can be fixed. Hang in there.
LOL, a 15 gl63 and 17 tt/s

Salvage value is calculated using official (dealer) repair-shop prices and new parts and those guys will fix such cars using cheap labor and used parts.

My wife totalled her DD in January and all in all we got 70% of the money she payed for the car when new - 7.5 years ago...

It is being repaired at a Porsche certified facility.
Oh and to top things off , before I bought my Porsche I bought my younger brother a new Audi A6. He was on his way to a friends place to watch the UFC fights and some lady in a rental van backed into him. I had recently had the entire car color sanded /buffed (car is black so it made a HUGE difference cars paint is like a mirror now )and ghost shield installed on the front end for protection ......Unbelievable.

About 20 years ago i woke up and found my brand new Corvette up on the sidewalk with the driver door crushed. No note, of course. It does absolutely suck, and for a year or two I thought about the douchbag who did it - even though the car was fixed perfectly. It did still serve as a daily reminder that some people just suck.

If I could've afforded it at the time I would've replaced the car with an upgraded example to ease the pain. Out of sight out of mind right? Not much upgrade room on a Turbo though, maybe an S or a color that you really want?

I could contact someone my brother knows who owns a dealership and see what kind of price he could do on 2017 Turbo S. I bought my current one outright so I'd just have to move my current one of I go that route and pay the difference. Or maybe I will see if my brother wants mine and just sell it to him .

Totally sucks - been there. I walked out to this:

After 50K in repairs and a bent frame I can tell u I sold it. Took my loss and moved on. That said when I got it back it ran like a champ. I disclosed everything to new buyer. I loved that 996 and it was mint, but I am just fine today.

Man, sorry you had to go through walking out to see that kind of damage to your Porsche. Makes your heart sink. Most of us are so careful with our cars it usually hurts more when someone else does the damage . I got a call earlier today and my car is slated to be done and ready for pick up at the end of the month. I think I'm gonna order some new emblems for the rear of the car and have them painted gloss black to match my wheels since it's already in the paint shop.

I can relate and sorry that happened to you. And, holy crap, I'm pretty sure that your current crop of cars eases a lot of pain! Way to bounce back!
